I will get to it! I was geo-caching with Dad's latest set-up! (I got a very delicious shake out of it so overall I would call the date a success.)

Re: Camp Songs

I don't like Princess Pat. Include it because for some reason most other people do. I like The Boy and the Girl in the Tippy Canoe with the Moon Shining All Around and something about Noah and Rise and Shine and Give God your Glory Glory and I can vaguely remember "Linger a little longer" ...

just so people know, if you have spaces in your username you may or may not have to use underscores to log in. If you want to be cool like that. But everyone knows that the true party is here.

I like Aggie Ice Cream okay, but I think it's too sweet compared to BYU Creamery. Sometimes people prefer that, but I don't.

Jack in the Box

So the reason there's no Jack in the Box in Utah is because of all the little kids that got food poisoning (or, like, E. coli) from it one time and all their Utah restaurants had to shut down. This was back 20 years ago so I'm not too surprised that none of the Board writers came across it. I learne...

If anyone's read Lexi Khan's book, I know she'd love it if you leave her a review on Amazon.

(And I'd love it if she loves me for suggesting it, so we're all winning here.)

I get to leave work early today! It doesn't really feel like it because I came in early.

Also I am going to the car dealer to get some sort of safety recall thing fixed. I never wanted to be this grown up.

Re: Bad date stories - #72586

My worst date was with a boy in my country dancing class when I was 18. He asked me to a country dance (extra credit). I was not a fan of him, nor was I a fan of having to dance with him all night. In my journal I called him "repulsive boy" which was really mean of me. When we got home my ...

Re: analogy help

I've heard a comparison to a huge, long stand of bleachers full of people doing the wave. Once the cheerleaders can convince enough people at one end to start (transduction!), the wave will propagate until it hits a boundary (which would be a synapse, but I don't know whether you need to work those...

analogy help

In a couple weeks I'll be discussing, among other things, photoreceptors. My lay audience may have trouble with the concept of action potentials and I want to liken the transfer of energy to some sort of sport or something. Is there any sport where someone's main job is to receive a ball and pass it...

I don't like lipgloss because it feels suffocating. (I've noticed a similar sensation when I paint my fingernails.) I like lipstick just fine, though.

Re: #72644 - Salt and Pepper

I went to a chowder place in Seattle where they had a sugar shaker (you can tell what it is because it's much bigger than a salt shaker). One girl thought it was salt, though, and kept adding more and more because her chowder kept tasting sweet. If you make a lot of bowls of strawberries or oatmeal ...

Re: Still close to high school friends?

Yeah, nope. I was about the only one of my friends that didn't go to our local university, so they spent freshman year hanging out all the time still while I was far away. So they basically...stopped being my friends. And after I moved back home after college most of them were married, so they had m...

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10

C, you were a blood recipient? What happened? Oh, over the course of "Chemo Summer" I ended up getting 7 transfusions. I'm still a little bothered that it wasn't 8 (I prefer even numbers) but I was doing well enough after my last round that they opted not to supplement. And prior to my fi...
