"New Spice" HBLL Ad

OH. MY. GOODNESS.

This was on the BYU homepage, but I saw it first when my brother brought it to my attention.

I do not think it is possible to watch this "commercial" without laughing.

Re: Deep cover agents?

Wow. It doesn't sound like our government is going to be too tough on the Russian spies, either. (Probably because I bet we have people in their country doing the exact same thing. ;) )

Re: World Cup 2010: Haters, go elsewhere

Did you know that some Argentine newspapers (I think El Día was among them) have called for the kidnapping (octopusnapping?) and death of Paul the Octopus. Some people have even suggested octopus recipes (like in an article giving "Three Delicious and Simple Ways to Cook Paul the Octopus")...

Re: Learned Optimism Test

Yeah; that sounds kind of off. Self-centeredness (or just being plain out of touch with reality) does not equal optimism. I got a total score of "very pessimistic" as well. I think there are some definite flaws to this test. Sometimes I thought both options were equally acceptable (like in...

Wow, this is neat!

I got 106. I forgot a lot of minor characters, though.

Re: #57938 David Archuleta

Just thought I'd chime in with one more thought on the matter. This one was actually emailed to me by YSA Gems: “ ‘For many times you have desired of me to know that which would be of the most worth unto you.’ I suppose many of you young men have asked yourselves that same question. Here is the Lord...

Seriously, though, I'm not 100% sure why. I agree with you; someone should ask this question on the Board. T'would be interesting to learn more about this...

Re: #57938 David Archuleta

if you can serve a mission instead of immediate service, I would think it's encouraged. I'd agree with that. What about the (perhaps apocryphal) story of President Kimball telling Steve Young that football was his full-time mission? I found this unsourced essay that refers to a similar episode (tho...

Re: #57938 David Archuleta

Wow, I kind of forgot about this thread after I started it - three pages. Wow. Thanks, Katya, for posting that article (about the President Monson-Archuleta impromptu meeting in the Church Office Building). I guess that as far as we know, then, in that particular meeting, President Monson didn't nec...

Question #58064 (AND #58114!)

(I don't know if it's allowed to talk about more than one question at a time . . . oh well.) Can I just say that I really loved and appreciated the Board Writers' responses for Question #58064 (about the patriarchal order/the priesthood/temples/etc.) and for Question #58114 (about mothers and educa...

Re: Trying to invite someone to Institute

I think Home Teaching can be very awkward, but it's very important. I am probably one of the most awkward people I know (which is really something, believe it or not) and sometimes when I've gone home teaching I've felt like a complete moron who doesn't know how to do almost anything effectively. An...

I would love to know how I found out about the 100 Hour Board. Unfortunately, I don't remember. ...hm. Maybe somebody didn't want me to remember how I found out about the Board... Anyway, I think I somehow stumbled upon it some years ago -- no idea how -- and I've loved it ever since. Found out I ev...

#57938 David Archuleta

I really don't know that much about David Archuleta (he was pretty popular before I went on my mission, but I think his fame grew somewhat during it), but I think it'll be a shame if he doesn't go on a mission, especially as President Monson met with him and specifically encouraged him to serve a fu...

I was so glad to see The Detective post mention being able to double his vision at will. I have been able to do that since I was seven or eight years old, and I don't think I've ever successfully explained that to anyone. I might be a bit behind the conversation, but I thought I'd chip in: I've liked reading others' blogs (well, the good ones). Here's the way I see it right now (now that I've thought about it some more -- I'm only focusing on vaccines and autism, though): I was vaccinated when I was young, and I turned out fine (just don't ask for a second opinion from anyone who knows me, okay? ) The LDS Church (and many others) ha...

Board Question 57223 (Vaccinations)

Hi, everybody! I just had a comment about Board Question #57223, which discussed reasons that people might not want to vaccinate their children. I am generally in favor of vaccinations (please keep that in mind as you read this post), but I don't think it is appropriate to term those who oppose vacc...
