Re: LDS Handbook changes - SSM, Apostasy, and children

I'm really, really sad about this. Just really sad. I was finally at a place where I was thinking maybe I would try dating women, because I just want some companionship. I want to be with someone and although I'm probably technically bisexual, I'm not very often attracted to men. It's not even about...

Re: First question you asked the board

I did, however, ask some paper questions back in the early 2000s. But my first online questions were in 2007.

This was my third one. The first two were not very interesting.

Re: Which rodentish pet is the best?

Guinea pigs!! I love my piggy. I a piggy all of junior high and high school, and then I got a pair of female piggies two years ago. One of them died in the spring (she had heart problems - the usually live 5-10 years), so I have one now. She is currently sitting on my shoulder licking my face. She k...

Re: 84061 - Aspiring astronomer

If someone does want to be an astronomer, though, BYU is a great place to be. The astronomy profs are awesome, and they are hugely supportive of undergrad research and will help you go to conferences and publish papers and do lots cool stuff.

Re: 84061 - Aspiring astronomer

Yes I did, a little too much on. Did my undergrad in physics-astronomy, then a master's at BYU in physics, then went elsewhere and did a phd in astronomy. Then decided that was the wrong career choice and went to med school. And now I'm doing residency and another master's degree (in medical educati...

^Hahaha yes! I also took 121 from him.

But I also did high school physics in Alberta, so it worked out ok.

Re: Answers I liked

The one time I actually make a comment on a board question it ends up immortalizing one of my typos forever. And it wasn't even a funny typo, like the time I called the Big Bang the Big Band.

Today what makes me happy is putting opium in my face hole after having SO MUCH dental work.

Temple prep

So when I was in the temple prep class, our instructors did a session on logistical stuff that was super helpful. It included the following things: -A basic outline of what you do in the several hours that you are there for the first time, for the purpose of telling us which points would be good for...

Re: What are you drinking?

Has anyone tried kombucha? All of my BYU hippy friends are drinking it and making it (which sounds terrifying to me). I think it looks and smells gross and so I have never tried it, but I am missing out on something tasty?

As your friendly neighborhood advocate of everyone being more comfortable talking about bodily functions, I just have to express my love of Frere Rubik using the phrase "taking a dump" in one of his answers.

Re: Wedding vows

Slightly off-topic, but the reason my bro and SIL choose my parents' bishop to marry them is because he was pretty much the only person they approached who was able to officiate at an outdoor wedding. My brother had been inactive for at least a decade and my SIL is not LDS, so they had no particular...

Re: Wedding vows

My bro and SIL were married by my parents' bishop and he let them use their own vows. He also asked them if there was anything in particular they wanted him to say.

Re: What are you drinking?

Yeah, I would never try making black or green tea that way. Apparently cold-brewed coffee is a thing now, and it is a thing of which I am very skeptical.

Re: What are you drinking?

Cold-brewed really works, but you need to leave it in there for at least 12 hours. It is the perfect lazy way to make iced tea.

Re: Mean Boys

In my experience, people--male and female--who are honestly disliked by close to 100% of the people around them are, in fact, truly awful humans. This is harsh but I actually 100% agree. I also tend to agree with this to a large extent. It's also possible that the questioner is maybe young and/or h...

Re: What are you drinking?

Also a lot of cold-brewed fruity herbal teas. Take 6-8 tea bags, put them in a 2L pitcher of water (+/- sugar), and leave it in the fridge overnight. Delicious. It only really works well with fruity teas, though. I find that other kinds just taste bad if you leave them in water for that long. Tried ...
