Re: Making the stats more interesting

Another option, if you're just looking to get a scattered distribution of "likes" throughout the archives, is to just use the "I'm Board" link a few times and rate each of those. It's not going to give you as much as rating everything for a month, but it would be more than nothin...

Where, exactly, is your rejected comment not showing up that you would expect it to show up?

Re: Making the stats more interesting

Oh, I never thought you were being a mean dictator about it or anything! I just knew that, no matter how much fun I think it is to see everyone else's top favorites, it really does mean the top ten stay the top ten forever. I would be willing to post links to the days of my favorites if people want...

Re: The Countdown

Since this seems to be the repository for 5.0 questions, here goes. I noticed that none of the comments include headers or footers. In other words, they don't have a "Dear ---" or a name at the end. I don't miss the "Dear 100 Hour Board". But are names being deleted on purpose, ...

Maximum voting is now in. Or, at least, will be within 15 minutes or so; whenever the cache on that page expires.

Re: Making the stats more interesting

Speaking of making the stats more interesting, I'm interested in some feedback. Currently, the ranking for most popular questions is determined by adding up the votes on each individual answer. This means that a question with a bunch of pretty good answers can be considered, even if it doesn't have ...

Re: The Countdown

The alias links only show up for questions submitted under the new system, precisely because we know that many old answers were probably created with the incorrect alias. But from now on, we're expecting writers to be smart about it. I suspect that it will take a couple accidents like this for them ...

Re: Various tacos

Sorry, I would, but I've sworn off commenting. I've tried six times, and every time been rejected. So every time I'd comment, I instead come here, where they don't reject my comments. Were I to post the comment that I have up above, I'm certain it would be rejected as well. A hint: Board 5.0 now su...

Re: The Countdown

In the spirit of saying three nice things for every complaint: (1) The new comment linking system looks great. I like how the comments are linked to their related question, but readers are still notified when there's a new comment. (2) I like that the front page shows the last 48 hours instead of j...

Re: The Countdown

Ahh… yeah, the link library. I'd forgotten about that.

I don't know if the link library will be coming back or not. If it does, we could certainly put a link in there.

Re: The Countdown

Also, I was just thinking...is there a link to the message boards anywhere on the new site? There's not; if there were, then we could potentially be held responsible for the content here, as it could be seen as an official part of the Board. We're not interested in having to do all that moderation ...

Re: The Countdown

I do, unfortunately, have one complaint: I find the new Board rather difficult to read, especially to skim. The scrolling's wonky and my eyes don't like Arial. Any chance we'll be returning to Palatino or another serif font? I'm curious what you mean about the scrolling being wonky. As for a serife...

Re: The Countdown

Example: https://theboard.byu.edu/questions/53266/ has a link that yields this: https://theboard.byu.edu/53153/ which, as of now, the Board says doesn't exist. I'm guessing it has something to do with the <^#####> method of linking to other questions, because other links work that do not have it. H...

Re: The Countdown

I'm very impressed! I have two things that I would like to see fixed (though that might not be ther right word). First, the text of the question is stuck underneath the bar to the side (the one with "home" "I'm Board" etc). Yeah, that was something I broke earlier today; it was ...

Re: The Countdown

Heh. Congratulations! You found a bug! So the colored bars and the stars are actually for internal use; they show the status of the question. For the colored bars: Red means unanswered, orange means partially answered (someone has written an answer, but nobody has declared the question done), yellow...

I totally missed the clue given by the word Ides; I figured it out with a frequency analysis tool online, and I was wondering whether she'd made it just a bit too hard.

Oops. :)

It's much, much more interesting when played in minor. I call it "In Our Mournful Deseret". Still need to come up with words, though.
