Re: Post-work tiredness

Yeah, I thought it was interesting that the answers to that question focused almost exclusively on the physical instead of the mental. School tends to be stimulating in a lot of ways that some full-time work isn't. In school you're likely to be juggling four or five different classes, plus extracurr...

Re: Greek to me.

As my Greek professor would say, it warms the cockles of my heart to be able to help.

Re: hand holding.

Point granted: who you kiss varies depending on your culture. But neither in my native culture (white, Southern, middle class Protestant), nor the East African culture where I live a lot of the time, would I *personally* kiss someone I wasn't romantically involved with. I suppose the only exception,...

Re: hand holding.

I'm not Mormon, but my typical order would be: hugging (I've hugged guys at any stage of relationship/non-relationship, including while telling them I wasn't interested in going on a second date. Hugging = mild affection but zero commitment) hand-holding/relationship (these two are interchangeable) ...

Re: Greek to me.

I thought about this more on the drive: To state it a bit differently, I think the problem you're having is one of form vs. function. 1st aorist/2nd aorist is a form issue. The difficulties with mood have to do with function. On the guide you linked to, there's a column (very confusingly) labeled ju...

Re: Greek to me.

My Greek is a bit rusty, but I'll do my best to help. The only difference between 1st aorist and 2nd aorist is the way they're formed. 1st aorist are regular verbs--verbs like krino, which just add the e at the beginning and use the a, as, etc., endings. 2nd aorist verbs have *irregular* stems--leip...

Re: Test your Harry Potter character knowledge

Old Testament Words: 170/200 3-lettered body parts: 4/10 ... I must be tired. Numbers: 61/100 first try, 100 on third try) Plagues of Egypt: Disgraceful. I don't want to tell you. Common words: 74/100 World religions: 9/21. Would have been 11 if I could spell Zoroastrianism and remember what Baha'i ...

Re: Test your Harry Potter character knowledge

Wow, I'm kind of ashamed of myself--I only got 86. But I haven't read any of them in about a year. I was proud of myself for remembering Ariana Dumbledore, kicking myself for forgetting Delores Umbridge ... I remembered who she was, of course, but couldn't come up with her name. Kudos to you people ...
