Re: Making me feel inadequate by comparison.

This seems like an appropriate place to share this, but a good friend of mine graduated with a degree in history and is currently in dental school. I've always thought it's a good thing to be well-rounded when it comes to education anyway... You just have to open your mind up to the possibilities an...

Re: Congratulations?

My brother and his girlfriend at the time desperately wanted kids, so they tried and tried and finally had a little girl. I sincerely congratulated them and was only ever supportive because having a baby is tough and requires a lot of patience and dedication. Sure, I suppose I didn't technically app...

Re: Best cold remedies

For any/all symptoms, Theraflu in hot liquid form. For just a sore throat, tomato soup with plenty of black pepper. For a stuffy nose, a hot shower with a shower soother. And along with all of this make sure you get plenty of sleep and fresh air. Frequently using hand sanitizer, even when not sick, ...

Re: 61370 - locker room soap

there is very little accountability to the readers who are, by the way, the reason the Board even continues to exist in face of the repeated warnings of BYU to moderate its tone Repeated warnings? To my knowledge, there have only been a couple... Be careful not to generalize too much. I daresay the...

Re: Callings

I agree with the general consensus. You don't have to (try to) get along with everyone. There are certain people that you should just distance yourself from before things get ugly. If it's getting you this worked up then I think you should talk to your bishop and ask for a different calling/FHE arra...

My current microwave doesn't have buttons. It has a dial. I'm not sure if I should feel ripped off or special.

Re: Censorship

I'm sure we could all agree that nobody likes censorship, but let's not forget the main reason why it has to happen: to prevent the Board from getting shutdown. Permanently. If the DU drops the Board, nobody is going to pick it back up. And considering the Board received a warning a bit recently, we...

Re: Saving for your kids' education

Actually, my mother in law just has control issues. She does have a story about how they found some termites, but didn't have the money to replace the wall since they had three on missions at the moment, and then when they finally did replace it years later there were no termites to be found. But s...

Re: tithing

This might be a good opportunity for me to explain how they do tithing here in Japan because it completely blew me away. The bishop (or in our case branch president) gives you a bank book that looks like a lot of receipts, but is tied to one of your ward's/branch's bank account (I'm still trying to ...

I'm only slightly offended that everyone seems to be ignoring the fact that I bought pizza for everyone at the last Board party. Brick Oven, even. :P

Yup, pretty much. This past Sunday was just a normal fast and testimony meeting. Next weekend they'll show all of the sessions at about the same times they're shown in Utah. We just watch the sessions here on our laptop though so they don't have to scramble to find headsets for English. Our branch i...

Conference weekend for us is next weekend. We're 15 hours ahead of Utah, so I'd really rather not watch live sessions of Conference at 1AM and 5AM. I prefer to sleep during those times. Just sayin'.

Re: My turn to ask a question!

Oh, come now, most video games are only SLIGHTLY inferior on consoles. Besides, I'm not complaining now, as there is only so much you can do with a netbook. Someday I'd like to have a nice gaming desktop, but I think that dream is still several years in the future. (sigh)

Re: My turn to ask a question!

I'd say it was slightly inferior on the console in a sense that it was more difficult to be tactical (which is why they actually made the PS3 and 360 versions slightly easier than the PC version). You couldn't zoom out or in during combat and you had to manually move your characters (individually, t...

Re: My turn to ask a question!

Well, now that you have a PS3 you mine as well get all of the Final Fantasy games to make it worth it. :D While you're at it, pick up Dragon Age as well. The Prince of Persia games and the Uncharted games are quite fun, too. Eh, what the heck, I'll also throw in a vote for the Assassin's Creed games...

Re: My turn to ask a question!

It really depends on what you want from them. The 360 has some unique games that are beyond amazing (Halo, Fable, etc.), though it isn't the most reliable system (though they did apparently upgrade their software recently). The PS3 has some of the most amazing RPG's and is by far the best system for...
