Re: Lost Finale
So Board Question #58080 linked to some "answers" from Movieline ( here ). Some of the answers were fine, but some need more discussion, I think. So I thought I'd brink them up here. (But not all at once.) Why did the monster kill the pilot? They gave a good answer for this one. What did L...

That isn't to say that he shouldn't go, but he's not pulling a Tal Bachman maneuver or anything. Funny, since Tal Bachman did go on a mission. Donny Osmond didn't go and look at him, millions know him as a Mormon. A good Mormon. A very good Mormon. I think that living a righteous life in front of m...

Why the Island is sunk in the sideways world - "the Incident," which was the detonation of Jughead, never occurred because the castaways were never on the island. If they never came to the Island, they never travelled back in time and they never detonated Jughead. That means that the ener...

Re: Lost Finale
After all, why was the purge ordered? Though we don't know for certain, it's implied that the Dharma Initiative was not true to the treaty they signed with the Others. According to Lostpedia , the DVD Box Set for Season 5 contained a copy of the truce between the Hostiles/Others (represented by Ric...

Re: Usage of wine in sacrament
I haven't had beer or wine, but I've smelled both on people's breath (including a whole host of other alcoholic beverages) and I say they're all nasty.

Claudio, great analysis of the "sideways" world. Like I say, I'd come to grips with the idea that they weren't going to have any more to say about Walt. What turned it into a disappointment was that statement on Times Talk Live. So I'm really hoping that's something restored in those 20ish...

Re: #57805 Twin Paradox
I haven't read everyone's posts, so I don't know how relevant this is. But I thought I'd throw in that some scientists (read here) reject the concept of a space-time continuum. They assert that the universe is made up of "space-time blocks".

Television Show
There was a television show that I remembered watching either sometime in the late 1980s or early 1990s. It was about an alien stranded on earth. For a companion, he had a hovering eyeball. I couldn't remember the name. Every few months I'd try searching the internet for clues as to its identity. I ...

Re: Elder Cook's Comment on Opponents of Prop 8
I live in California, and I have relatives in other stakes in California. I'm sure not all members of the Church agreed with the Church's position on prop 8, but as far as I could see the opposition point of view was rarely expressed. When it was expressed those views were treated with respect. I r...

Re: #57415 Worst date
My wife just told me about a couple she knows. On their first date the guy, without warning, rolled his glass eyeball across the table at the girl. The strangest thing is that they're married, now. Does this couple live in Provo? Because I know a glass-eyed dude or two...no just one. No. They live ...

Re: Usage of wine in sacrament
First, you characterized Canon Farrar as having made “an addendum” to Smith’s Bible Dictionary, “written in by Frederic William Farrar,” making an “alteration” to Dr. Smith’s manuscript, and “vandalized Smith’s Bible Dictionary.” It appears to me that it was Dr. Smith who took some comments Canon F...
