Re: Laptops with Win 7

There are now Microsoft stores out in the wild. There's one in Salt Lake City at City Creek, and their website also delineates one in Murray that is a specialty store. What that means, exactly, I have no idea. But here is a link for that one: http://content.microsoftstore.com/en-us/detail/fashionpla...

Re: Stuff we're reading / watching / listening to

Another good example of the same actor in almost polar opposite roles is John Hurt. He played Winston Smith in the 1984 remake Nineteen Eighty-Four , and the dictatorial Adam Sutler in V for Vendetta . Okay, so I was hanging out with a new group of people tonight, and 1984 was a major topic of conv...

Re: Laptops with Win 7

that reminds me of the time I had to replace a fan on my Thinkpad, and the BYU computer place took ages to get back to me and said the part would be super expensive, so I bought it on eBay for much cheaper (but I had them replace it). I think it was a whole summer term before I got my laptop back. ...

So the Black Ram and I just got back from visiting his brother's family and my family, and we had such a great time. Today he threw some money at me getting an electronic piano and put it together for me because he knew it would make me happy, and the whole project was his idea. We have one last hu...

Re: books read this year

I read probably 15-30 minutes per night before bed. However, I'm sure I, like the rest of us, read more quickly than the average population, even the average "free-time reader" population. So I've read quite a few books this year.

I got two things out of this story:

1) I love drama that I don't care about (Sorry it sucked for you though).
2) I really want some ice cream. So I will eat some. Because it is Arizona and not that cold.

I don't get why people have a beef with Windows 8. I mean, it's new, yes. But when (if?) you got your first smartphone, you already learned a remarkably similar new OS. Granted, it's weird at first, especially if you don't have a touch screen, but it's still feasible to use. And, at this point, on m...

Excuse yourself and go to your favorite mom and pop restaurant with a good book by yourself. Go on a drive. Go to Wal-Mart or whatever store you fancy and just walk around without buying anything. Find a chore to do that is better done alone. Apologize and claim the need for concentration on what yo...

... What is a reasonable commute to you? I mean, an hour isn't exactly close, but Google Maps says that it's 40 minutes from city center to city center. 53 in current traffic--at 5:30 PM Cali time, so smack in the middle of rush hour.

Meh. It's still less than an hour's drive. Although traffic actually in the city sucks like none other.

Not very. However, I go all around town (because a] it's not that large area-wise, and b] all the good Chinese restaurants are in the iffy parts of town.)

Well, see, the thing is, I can't stand writing like JRR Tolkien. I mean, I respect what he did with the genre and what he made it become. I just can't STAND to read his writing, because it's so dense and unpleasant to look at. I find myself rereading the same page over and over again. (And I've trie...

I wonder if Provo is considered part of the SLC metro area for the purposes of this survey. I have never noticed a difference in dialect between the two places. I'm going to guess based solely on the fact that it distinguished between Mesa and Gilbert (two very similar, very close places) for me th...
