Re: Rant of the Day

I'm not surprised about the dearth of lesbian bars. After all, the lesbian stereotype is either: 1) Biker chick minus the Confederate flag OR 2) Really cerebral Neither screams bar patron, but I don't know much about bar patrons. What DOES surprise me is that Vegas doesn't have one. Are you talking ...

I'M LOOKING AT YOU ZED

You know what I'm talking about. I don't even know who you really are, and I figured it out.

Re: Rant of the Day

(no lesbian bars here in Vegas, or Salt Lake City, because why would lesbians need bars) Bars are against the Word of Wisdom, obvi. That said, I am pretty angry about Orlando, both the event and the aftermath. It infuriates me that there are still groups of people in this country who do not feel sa...

Employee rights are important! At the same time, employers have the right to, 1) Expect you to show up, on time, every day (unless you call in or take a pre-scheduled vacation) 2) Expect you to work hard, and do a good job, every time 3) Expect you to do things their way, because there are often fac...

I'm 6'2" or 3", and I measure everybody by "taller than me" or "shorter than me." Dad: Shorter than me Mom: Shorter than me Me: tall Giovanni: taller than me Brother 2: shorter than me, but roughly equal sister: shorter than me I think the shortest one is Sister, and sh...

Obamacare

We need to hire 3 more workers, but that would put us over 50 employees. We'd then be required to provide health insurance. However, providing health insurance for all our employees would completely negate the earnings made by the 3 additional workers, as we pay our employees close to double than th...

Re: Engagement Rings

I like the idea of engagement rings because I like tradition. I also like the idea of people carrying something tangible at all times to remind them of their partner's commitment. Call me a romantic, but I think that's a beautiful thing. As for what kind of ring, I say people should go with 1) what ...

LOL, I lived in the YSA ward she would attend should she move home, and tons of people knew her in high school -- sometimes her personal FB page pops up in my "people you may know," which makes me laugh every single time.

I'd just start ignoring her. Is there any reason why you can't cut ties? You've tried to be direct, and apparently that didn't work.

Re: Calling all apostates!

I'm interested to hear "personal conversion" stories, too! Was there a definitive time in anyone's life where they felt they would never leave the LDS Church? Is that an experience that gives you personal comfort even if there are times when your conviction wavers or there are troubling s...

When I accidentally break the Word of Wisdom I don't worry about it, and in this instance all I did was stop drinking the newly-forbidden, sweet, sweet nectar.

Ain't no way I'd ever in a million years discuss this with my bishop. It's literally none of his business. I feel like this sort of decision could be made perfectly well between the couple and the Lord.

Not really a fan of Mate either. I only like it with tons of sugar. If I wanted that wonderful grass taste, I'd lick the bottom of a lawn mower. The following is a sad story for me. My first night in the mission field, my companion took me to visit one of our investigators. While there, his less-ac...

Re: #86717 Scrimper wife with a flippant husband

This reminds me of a former co-worker, who was the primary breadwinner while his wife stayed home with their toddler and infant. They were play-bickering one day, and the husband came back with "I MAKE MORE MONEY THAN YOU!" (apparently quoting How I Met Your Mother, and his wife knew it, s...

These are all very interesting answers, thank you for replying. It helps to hear de-conversion stories in a calm and measured way.

Disclaimer: I have not left the Church, and I continue to believe in its truth claims. A lot of the things my friends have left over, which are likely similar to the issues causing you to leave, have never really been a problem for me. Having earned a degree in Church history, I feel like there's re...

http://theboard.byu.edu/questions/83619/ She claims that 100% of the single men in her life view her as "too serious and not 'fun' enough to befriend, label you as unattractive, undesirable, and undatable, and in all ways consider [her] beneath them." I think the questioner might ask herse...
