Re: choir vs band vs orchestra smackdown
See, and most of the choir guys I knew were gay, so it didn't occur to me to be attracted to them. In my high school we had the image of cheerleaders and flag girls switched. Cheerleaders were so mocked and looked down upon that we could barely fill out a squad. But the kick line with the band was f...

Re: Sad Halloween Times
What did they play? My dad played the euphonium, and then was the photographer when he, ah, stopped taking classes. My mother was a flag girl. That's awesome. My husband plays euphonium, but was in the trombone section of the marching band when I met him on a band trip. I was a flag girl as well.

Re: Sad Halloween Times
My husband and I were BYU cheerleaders. We got the uniforms from the surplus sale BYU had at the beginning of the football season. And I made my son into his favorite stuffed animal friend, Ruffy. Which he likes almost as much as smooshing his baby sister in her elephant costume.

Re: 69406 Reader Stats
My total shows 90, but a few of those were rejected comments. If I need to, I could count how many, but I'm lazy. Obviously I asked a few under other names though. Kinds flattered I made the list though! I haven't asked a question in a while, actually. I should think of one. . .

Re: Traveling/Plane Stories (Question 69368)
Kid jail? When I was 12 I flew by myself to visit my brother. Another brother had gotten back from a trip a few weeks earlier, and commented that he was bummed that he almost got bumped (he wanted the free ticket they offered to volunteers). So when I had a frantic morning getting to the airport to ...

Re: How Mormon are you?
Um, Marduk, not to be mean, but . . . my spiritual level has nothing to do with you. Yes, you post a lot, but that doesn't mean you are changing all of our lives and somehow the sole reason that everyone who posts here is the same kind of liberal Mormon that you see yourself as. And this thread has ...

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
“My desire is to plead with our sisters to stop worrying about a phone call or a quarterly or monthly visit,” said Mary Ellen Smoot, the 13th Relief Society general president. She asked us to “concentrate instead on nurturing tender souls.” Doesn't this quote from this month's lesson contradict the...

Re: How Mormon are you?
See, and I think you are fine. I noticed the same trend. Especially lately, with the makeout thread. So I was really curious to see the answers. For me personally, I have gone down one of your notches in the last couple of years, but I am starting to think I want to move back up. So I appreciate the...

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
I guess so. This particular topic can get a little awkward, however, if you are teaching a less-active member. You can pull out a "serve others" lesson from it, but my mom is getting a little frustrated at doing that for the last few months to a woman who has many steps to go in activity b...

Re: How Mormon are you?
That was the swing point for me too. I ended up o. The border with a half a point. I've never gone this long without a calling before, but I'd take it if I got one. The bishop seems to have forgotten me somehow.

Re: tattoos
I assume the current BYU students are going to wait til they graduate/leave to pursue this? Ha. Was anyone else in school back when they had the soapbox by the Wilk occasionally? It was an actual crate labeled "soapbox" with a microphone that people could stand on and talk about issues th...

My husband kinds wants an Ironman tattoo. Not enough to get it, but that is what he would get if he did.

Re: wedding dresses
GA- When my mom was showing my cousins a picture of my dress and saw (now) hubby coming, she hurried and covered it up. To which he replied " don't worry, they all look the same to me." When my fashion-focused mom gasped, he followed it up with "what? They are all white. They are all ...

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
I saw not a greeting card, but a greeting sticker, that was professionally designed and printed, that said "Glad your [ sic ] back." It's funny how a blatant grammatical error on one's résumé would likely keep one from getting employed at the company that made that sticker. I thought for ...

Re: wedding dresses
. . . they looked at me like I was crazy. To this day I have no idea why they were so against it. I think those temple workers get so used to streamlining brides through that any deviance stops them short. Or at least, a similar thing happened to us. I have a lot of non-member family that was...

Re: wedding dresses
Somewhere in the past couple of years I realized that most LDS women don't wear their fancy wedding dress to the actual ceremony . . . Is that just a recent trend? Or has that been going on for a while? That's what I did. We hadn't even thought about it, and then one of the dress shop-owners asked ...

I loved my dress, and it was square necked and A-line (fairly poofy) and gorgeous.

Re: Making out and its ramifications
Hmm. I always compare Heavenly Father's actions to my meagerly attempts at parenting. And when my son had so much trouble understanding communication as a toddler, I spent a lot of time practicing things like "go" and "stop". We would walk around the house, and I would help him t...

Re: Making out and its ramifications
Well, a lot of things could have negative consequences, even if they don't always have them. For example, not everyone who drinks alcohol has anything bad happen as a result. But certainly a lot of people do- ranging from embarrassing themselves to killing people on accident. And most of those peopl...
