Re: Stylist drama

This is why I don't go to salons.... Which may actually be a solution. A lot of stylists who work at salons also have a day or two that they work from home or do home visits. Ask your new stylist if this is an option she offers. It can often be a bit cheaper because she won't have to pay the salon f...

Re: Ordain Women

I don't know where I stand on this issue myself. But I do know where I stand in my opinion of the movement. I believe that the women who are involved in Ordain Women for a genuine desire to receive answers from the prophet are completely justified and have full right to ask for this. Reading Tally's...

Follow-up question. I know Gilaedi and Quinn were professors at BYU. I'm pretty sure I remember hearing all of the six were. Am I correct?

Re: Stuff we're reading / watching / listening to

So it was the September Six. That was my first thought, but I'd been under the impression that it was for a wider variety of reasons than the feminist movement. Also, I disagree with the Times for calling that "not that long ago." Thanks Portia!

What excommunication of feminists is referenced in this? Also, it's an interesting article. And I like how it's pretty neutral and presents a variety of opinions about how women are treated and viewed in the church.

Re: What's for dinner?

I've been told the flavor I keep missing can be added by using some sort of alcohol, but I don't have enough experience with that to know what specifically I should use. Or how. However, heavily sauteed red onions is something I haven't used.

Good for you, Portia! If you want any tips as you start using it, let me know. I've recently become quite enthusiastic about teaching people how to wisely use credit cards.

Re: New laptop

Just wanted to note that you *can* buy external DVD drives that attach to your computer. If you end up liking one that doesn't have one. My main use for the DVD will be on flights and at friends' places swapping music. So an external is less desireable, although I have considered it as an option. I...

Re: New laptop

I'm going to side-rant and complain that the laptop I found and loved DOESN'T HAVE A DVD OR CD DRIVE!!! Which is just stupid for a full-sized notebook. For more helpful information, I've found the CNET reviews and especially their comparison tool to be amazingly useful in searching for laptops. I ch...

Re: #76506 - Movie choices

I have this problem myself in deciding what media to consume. There are some movies that I cannot stand because of the overall message or lack of intelligent purpose. Others are violent and "inappropriate," but I believe they portray important messages. My favorite WWII movie is Defiance ....

Re: Labor Positions

I have already decided I'm going to let my husband make this call. He has more insight into how this affects our sons' daily lives, and I don't really care. I have no moral objection to either option, so I'll let the most qualified of us choose. Of course, this is all hypothetical. Maybe the guy I e...

My freezer is all stocked up with broccoli chicken cheese rolls and chicken enchiladas. Plus I have leftover not-very-good peanut chicken noodles. I've got lunch for two weeks, easy! :)

Re: Labor Positions

Thank you GA. I kept seeing lots and lots of things saying c-sections aren't good. And while I'm nowhere near having a baby, I've managed to minimize my worries by thinking "Well, I can always have them do a c-section if I don't handle labor well." I've had lots of surgeries. That worries ...

Re: reading facial expressions quiz

I got 30/36 on the Harvard one. That's much more like the one I took before. Once I started it, I remembered it had been eyes only. But it was in color, and the test had a different layout. I think I do better there because I don't actually process features very well. I typically focus on just one o...
