Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10

I am planning on giving my students a little spiel about technology use tomorrow (specifically social media), and I found this study . I had the students read the article about Rebecca Sedwick that someone linked to from here (was that Katya? Thanks to whoever it was), and I'm going to try to help t...

Re: 74710 - The kid who is hard to control

Yes! Tips, please! I recently found out that someone I know through my work has oppositional defiant disorder. I am not at my wit's end yet, but I get frustrated often and would like to not arrive at my wit's end, if at all possible.

Re: What Literary Character Are You?

Apparently I am Romeo. I don't think I'm that romantic, though. Or that prone to threatening my life every few minutes.

Re: how to get a date

So, I was about to make a longer version of an argument similar to that of the article Katya referenced--but then I decided to actually investigate the link; phew. I did a VERY quick skim-over for right now, but I think it's the same basic idea. I know that I have felt intimated by women that I thou...

MWAHAHAHAHA! I so needed that. Thank you.

And for the record, mico, I have determined that we are officially not cousins. But I am okay with that now. :)

Re: Anyone want to hang out this weekendish?

I don't think I could come (and would feel awkward around a bunch of people I don't think I've ever met in real life), but I just wanted to post and say that for a second I thought you might be one of my cousins who happens to be in town this week, mic0--the details are eerily similar. Then I starte...

Haha, this made me think of the guy in my dinner group who was allergic to both of those fruits...and disliked chocolate. Making desserts was hard sometimes. :)

Re: smoothies

Here is a smoothie "recipe" I have done for dinner group a few times--everyone has really enjoyed it. It uses yogurt, which gives it a nice creamy texture with minimal effort. Basic ingredients: ▣ 1/2 can frozen juice concentrate (any flavor) ▣ Two or three regular-sized cups of yogurt (an...

Awkward situations with promises

Oh, dear. I am an advisor for a student club at the school where I teach, and one of the bigwigs who helps us out from the community said that he could provide pizza for an opening social. So of course I decided to make that the selling point for people to come, and we've advertised it that way to a...

Re: Let's discuss buying houses

I am posting solely to say that I approve of there being an ongoing conversation in this section that is NOT awkward for me to look at. (I get enough of that at lunch, where I am the only guy amongst my coworkers.) That is all I have to contribute. :)

I really hope somebody starts another thread soon in the "Less Than 100 Hour Board" section that is NOT about tampons. I feel so awkward every time I go to see what posts are new there. Yep. Also, the new season of Avatar starts tomorrow! Anyone know if it'll stream online live at the same...

Song of the Sea (Kells "sequel")

I just found out about this film last night, and I am SO JAZZED about it! It looks like the animation will be even more beautiful than that of The Secret of Kells . www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2aDh05nqMI Song of the Sea will be released in 2014. I found out about Kells through the Board, if I recall co...

Penguins and Fuzzies! (Er, Furries -- #74042)

(Yes, I'm not sure if this thread title could sound any cuter than that. I realized afterward that I needed to write "furries" instead of "fuzzies," but the title was so darn cute I decided to leave the former word in.) So, Mr. or Ms. Spheniscidae says that he/she/werf "iden...

Re: Headaches

Whoof, wouldn't pepper spray be too strong? If I tried that, I think I'd probably go off cayenne for life, which would be a shame. The cayenne ointment might be a better option than pepper spray, but I don't think it's necessarily intended for that type of use--but it certainly works wonders when I'...

Re: Headaches

Could your headaches be caused by issues with blood circulation? Sometimes improving circulation can be a good cure for headaches. A simple natural way to do this is to swallow a capsule of cayenne (available in most health food stores) with a meal and glass of water. (I have to take it with a meal ...

Re: Do acne scars hurt?

Web MD says to consult a doctor if you develop scars or marks after acne heals. (http://tinyurl.com/lfhu4gy) It sounds like you have something more serious than that , so you should definitely consult a doctor/dermatologist. The soreness could be indicative of some kind of remaining infection. I don...

When I received my blessing at 16, there were parts that I honestly did not like one bit. Kind of like other people have mentioned--"You mean I have to develop THAT gift? I will have to do THAT thing/service/etc.?" I am gradually accepting those parts that made me uncomfortable. I think pa...

Re: Buying a Car

YES! Carfax is an essential. Forking over the money is annoying, but it's a great investment, since you get to ask for more than one report. By using Carfax, I was able to discover that a car listed as having only 16,000 miles had a history of accidents and THREE OWNERS (if I recall correctly). Susp...
