Re: #68189 - R-rated redux

Has anyone read A Short Stay in Hell? I did. That was a really interesting read. Rather disturbing, to be honest. Just the idea of spending that much time flipping through books and finding meaningless gibberish, with no hope of a systematic search that would have results, just creeped me out someh...

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10

By the way, bringing my son's birth certificate should be enough, right? The rest of us have passports. A birth certificate is enough to get him into Canada, but not necessarily back into the US (and if that's the case they would actually know that before they let you into Canada and probably not l...

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10

We are looking at going to Niagra Falls in September. And when I went to a page to find out more about the border crossing, I found a FAQ section. Frequently Asked Questions Q: What time of the year is Niagara Falls open ? A: Niagara Falls is open 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Q: Are the Falls tur...

Re: Quick Board Survey

I skipped the question about pop since none of them worked for me, but my answer is *cola is disgusting, sprite is okay if there is nothing else available.

I'd rather have a Dr. Pepper, thanks.

Re: Canada does not know what a friendship bracelet is

Ahh, this brings back memories. I don't have experience with shipping customs, but when I was growing up our assigned temple was in Toronto, so I went through the Canada border a few times. And "arbitrary" is the best word for that, because they never asked the same questions twice. Some j...

Re: Would you spend the rest of your life in six little pods

I'm not an actual chlostrophobic, but I do go stir crazy if I don't leave the house for a couple of days. And riding in a spaceship alone would freak me out- I would not cope well with the feeling that I couldn't leave my cell because everything out there is toxic. So, big fat NO from me.

I just love that Katya even found a source. Classic. I think Jasmine is a beautiful name. Well, I'm glad someone is on our side. And Katya too. Thank you, everybody. Like many of you mentioned, the only Jasmine I knew was white. I grew up in Cleveland, so I did know a lot of black people, but none o...

Re: Baby names

My oldest brother has a misspelling in his because my mom thought it looked better that way. When we talked about it one day, he said that sure, he agrees it looks better without that letter, but given how many things have been spelled wrong in his life, he wishes she hadn't done that. Then the seco...

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10

Yesterday, the old cranky guy that was speaking in church was discussing the temple and how important it is. And then he said that "we know that we shouldn't judge others, but I have noticed others in this neighborhood running and walking past my house and I know that they have been to the temp...

Re: Stuff we're reading / watching / listening to

The recent surge in Les Miserables trailers on facebook led me to start re-reading that book. I forgot how much I hate the French Revolution. It was confusing enough when I learned it all for AP Euro, and that was way too long ago for me to understand it all now. Which makes me skim through half th...

I just realized that I never dated a single guy younger than me. Huh. One was only two weeks older, but I never crossed that line.

Wasn't on purpose, I swear.

Distracted husband

I felt bad for this guy . I actually went through a period where I found I was obsessing on a previous relationship when I was newlywed, and after a while of trying everything I could think of to change my thoughts, I found my solution. I don't know if this would help him or not, but for me, the key...

Re: Secondary water

We use secondary water in our sprinkler system. In fact, I think that is the entire purpose of it. I'm no expert on vegetable gardens, but I've never heard of my neighbors using culinary for that, since it would be more expensive.

I was never picky. But my husband likes to laugh at how much I like watching Olympic swimmers. They have muscle definition in their hips that I love. Who knows, my husband might have that muscle from his Ironman training, but I'd have trouble finding it under all of his chest hair. Wasn't that anoth...

Re: Gender vs. ... Se...x

I just wanted to say that I'm with Fred on this one. I used gender interchangeably out of ignorance, and mainly because I thought it was more clear because it only meant type of person and not type of person and something people do. I think it was less confusing. I guess now I will take these defini...

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10

I would just like to brag that my husband finished the St. George Ironman yesterday. The wind kicked up 4 foot waves and beat in his face on the steep bike climbs, but my favorite crazy man kept going for all 140.2 miles. It was really amazing to watch.
