Re: Honor Code Change
"Great if the case-by-case evaluations actually lead to more religious freedom, not so great if it's just a convenient wording to change to avoid legal issues while still being repressive behind closed doors." That's about what I was thinking as I read it. Yeah, sounds good! I sure hope BY...

Re: Answers I liked
I was a timid girl who didn't like the locking elbows/escorting thing. But it was expected so I had to. Honestly, it seems good to me they don't "make" them do it anymore; one more way to show kids they have control over their own bodies, even in a small way.

Re: Rant of the Day
Apparently I have deep-seated feelings about my birthday, because I woke up feeling sad, got sadder, got to work and literally cried, then came home early hoping not too many people noticed. Also I keep the date off facebook on purpose because I don't want the attention, but having not told anyone t...

Re: Banned Books?
I can't even imagine how my parents could have monitored what I was reading at those ages, I read SO MUCH. Maybe this is naive, but it seems like a kid will only read about what they're interested in. If they wonder about things outside their experience at a younger age, why is it wrong for them to ...

Re: "Mormon" vs. "LDS"
I don't know a lot of books/movies in this genre, so I'm intrigued. I can't even think of anything besides The New York Regional Mormon Single's Halloween Dance, which I did really enjoy. +

Totally agree with Craig that a lot of those questions were unfair and only tell part of the story. I got 0.17 on hostile sexism, and 0.83 on benevolent sexism. I think if there had been equivalent questions for men (or something more fair, like "men and women are equally pure" or somethin...

I just looked up "My Name is Asher Lev," it looks great. I'm excited to hear more about your book-progress in the future! Sounds so cool/relevant to my interests.

Re: secularism and the pursuit of happiness
I am *AMAZED* that a writer used 1984 to argue *for* religion. That boggles my mind. I feel like everything written in that answer about 1984 can directly be used to say "don't take the LDS church too seriously." Every example of what that dystopian government does has a direct corrollary ...

Re: Baby gift for coworker + wife?
Have you seen "Meet the Patels"? I finally watched it tonight and thought it was pretty good. Interestingly I asked my coworker about it a few weeks ago and he didn't really like it. Getting to know him and his wife better, it seems he is REALLY traditional, so I don't think he enjoyed th...

April Fool's Day 2016
Anybody do/witness any fun pranks? I did the mildest of pranks -- installed some wifi-controlled colored lights in our house and surprised Mr. Mico when he went to the bathroom with a light show. He loved it. :) I also introduced my coworkers to the Chrome extension "cloud-to-butt" which r...

Re: Baby gift for coworker + wife?
We hung out with her! It was really nice. She seemed glad to get out of the house and surprised her husband never showed us wedding pictures from their very traditional Indian wedding, so we have plans to hang out more and see the pictures. :P The pregnancy sounds so hard, but actually she seemed le...

Re: Baby gift for coworker + wife?
That's a really nice idea! My coworker (who is going with me to visit her) talked me down from my excitement. We're going to hang out with the girl next week and then go from there. :) From what her husband says at work it just sounds like there isn't much going on at home besides being pregnant and...
