Re: Siblings as friends

It's kind of fun to read everyone's childhood remembrances. I'm the 3rd of 8, and I can see a lot of my family dynamics in a lot of the stories from other people from big families. When I was little, my mom was always looking for fun things for us to do- within reason, she had no desire to structure...

Boy woes

Looking for different perspectives on this. A kid I used to know in high school, who I have been Facebook friend with for a while, recently began chatting with me via FB (something I normally don't do). I don't know that we were ever friends per se, but he was in my home ward and he was funny and ni...

That's what I was going to say, SMP!
And I have to agree that the most famous Star Wars quote is "I have a bad feeling about this"

Cheap web design for a good cause

Do any of you have knowledge and experience of web design or know someone who does who would be willing to design a website for a very low cost? My NGO is kind of halting on the point of takeoff because our site isn't up and running. It's all written and organized and constructed, but it's not prett...

This is extrapolation, but I would say bent elbows would be good, and also focus on keeping your upper body relaxed as possible.

and the whole real definition of "damned" relates nicely to what real repentance is at its heart- assessing one's life and changing things that are causing damnation- or lack of progress, which is just as often doing something new as it is stopping an established behavior. This conjures up...

Re: Nine for Random Chatter, doomed to die

Yeah, like Katya says, it's symbolic. The state motto is "industry," and if you visit historic Utah buildings, like Brigham Young's homes (one of which is called the Beehive House) or the Salt Lake Temple, you'll see beehives depicted fairly often in decorative motives. It's all to do with...

Re: Beginning Running 101?

I'm not a pro, so anyone with more knowledge feel free to correct me, but I took a little running course this spring from a professional runner (personal trainer) and he really stressed running on the balls of the feet- if you strike on your heel, it puts a lot more pressure on your joints and isn't...

So Marduk, what's the difference between defending yourself and defending someone else? Why is it okay to let yourself get beat up but not someone else?

pineapple and mango salsa and strawberry soup. Which is even better if it's been chilled with mint leaves and consumed with berries.

Re: Nine for Random Chatter, doomed to die

Sometimes I see Whistler's name and it's similar enough to my name- or nym, I guess, that I get a little confused. Also, I am so relieved. My problem roommate called a conference that we just concluded and we thought she was going to get upset with us all for various things, because she's been known...

Heh. I actually love to do that too, NerdGirl. I'll often bring back things that I found entertaining from earlier in the conversation, or a previous conversation, and sometimes I'll get strange looks, but it's great fun.

Re: Nine for Random Chatter, doomed to die

Ha! Katya, that reminds me of another dream I had recently where my great-grandfather and I were getting together to give advice to high school seniors about college life. And for some reason we were all crammed in a bathroom. And my great-grandfather has been dead since I was about 4. (Although he ...
