Re: Nude Trump Statues

I hadn't thought about that, but it's a good point.

Also, if someone had made Hillary statues, I would be horrified. So I guess I'm guilty of a double standard there.

Nude Trump Statues

So yesterday a bunch of statues were placed in major cities by an anonymous art collective of a naked Donald Trump (NSFW) . The statues are unflattering. He's depicted as obese and covered in veins, with a micropenis and no testes. Part of me sees the statue as a valid artistic statement. The "...

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10

I was talking to my dad and he mentioned how Youth Conference went this summer. It reminded me of a time when our theme for Youth Conference was "Steadfast and Immovable" and we were going on a road trip. They wanted to get t-shirts with our theme on a license plate. Steadfast is too big ...

Re: Honor Code Change

Well this is what I get for getting my news from Facebook groups instead of here. The article I read was decidedly more hopeful and now I feel gross about this. I'm with Zed and others. I worry that case by case is just a way to say they'll still kick people out, just one at a time. I don't talk ab...

Re: Honor Code Change

This article is super confusing. It's a new change, but it happened almost a year ago? And it seems like they only changed it enough to avoid legal issues, while still giving them license to expel students for a loss of faith, entirely at their discretion. It's a step in the right direction, I guess...

Good for you! Do you use MyFitnessPal? If so we should be friends. :)

And I had no idea bourbon has so many calories.

Re: aggravating coworkers

This guy at my office sprays lysol disinfectant spray (the cleaning product) around the entire place like it's an air freshener (it is NOT). There is so much in the air that I can taste it all day and it sets of my migraine problems. Talking to him about it (for that last 10 months) hasn't worked. ...

Re: 87466 - Understanding the Mormon LGBT struggle

These answers all seem to be well-meaning, and they might even have been appropriate last year. The November Policy made it painfully clear for any LGBT members and any progressive, Mormons-Building-Bridges, fence-sitting allies in the church–there is no place for you here. There is no softening of ...

Re: Mental illness is dumber

So I came here to say I didn't think you had had psychoanalysis though the idea of you in Freudian or Jungian therapy (or the idea of some super specialized MD administering it) tickled me. Then I googled it to make sure I wasn't being a complete idiot and discovered neuropsychoanalysis, which I ha...

Re: Mental illness is dumber

Talk to a doctor or a psychiatrist. If they think it's a good idea they'll probably refer you to a neurologist. Mine was mostly covered, thank goodness–co-pay of only a few hundred dollars, and I think the full price of the psychoanalysis was more than $5K. From what I've heard, most ADHD manifests ...

Re: Rant of the Day

Seriously. "Spinster" is already a feminine word. Why would it need an "-ess" suffix? That just implies that "spinster" refers to a man. Is this a hypercorrection, or simply a malapropism from someone trying to be cute? What's next, "widowess?" "Matroness...

I had amazing focus in high school You probably don't have ADHD. If you see a lot of "increased susceptibility to novelty seeking changes" I would ask a neurologist about BPD or some other disorder related to executive functioning instead. There are some overlapping symptoms and comorbidi...

Re: Mental illness is dumber

Uh, yeah, you could say that. From a neurologist last year: "The patient’s noted history of substantial academic issues in high school and college despite his intellectual strengths, his endorsement of current symptoms, his performance on testing, and his pattern of behaviors in daily life are ...
