I don't know what wars my family fought in... Well except a five times back grandfather in the Civil war... but other than that I don't know anyone who served in the wars. Time to ask my grandparents it seems.

I've been reading about the Gallipoli Campaign in World War I. Lots of stupid decisions made in those battles. A decisive defeat for the Allies. How much blame do you think Winston Churchill deserves as First Lord of the Admiralty?

Didn't he depart from government because of that battle for a time?

As I understand it Prime Minister Asquith was forced to form a coalition government as Gallipoli looked more and more like a disaster. Previous to this time, the Spring of 1915, the British government was controlled by the Liberal Party. The Conservative Party demanded the demotion of Winston Churchill (a Liberal) as part of the price of the Conservative support in the new coalition government. Winston Churchill was allowed to remain in the cabinet, but with the lesser responsibility of Chancellor of the Dutchy of Lancaster. Churchill resigned several months later and served for several months on the Western Front. However, he remained an MP.

Thanks, VB.

So I was just looking on the BYU employment page just to check it out for when I'm out there next year and I was reading the application. At the bottom they have a part that asks about relations who work at BYU and the label of the section actually is "Nepotism." I found this highly amusing...

I'm getting two laptops for graduation. dell.com has a buy one, get an airbook free deal, so I decided to foot the extra portion beyond what my parents would pay to get that. And it's still no cash out of my pocket. Yeah scholarships! Along the lines of $8,000 a year above and beyond books and tuition.

Also, I've been swimming in no less than 6 different pools today.

Thanks y'all! (Sorry for anyone that just cringed.)

Anyone else use baking new recipes as a release/outlet? I love it, especially when the recipes turn out fantastic.
allrecipes.com = amazing.

Yeah, I enjoy baking, too. I signed up for Heritage next year so that I will have a kitchen and I compiled a cookbook for myself at the beginning of this year of cheap recipes that a college students could use. I've never tried that website before, though. I shall check it out.

Well, I'm trying to use baking to convince my brother he should let me come over and play on his xbox...

Dear misstheenchantedone,

If you bake something for me, you can use my XBOX anytime that you want.

Usually I'm an awesome cook, but when my BFF and I try to make something together, it inevitably turns out nasty and weird. Example: today we tried to make simple, easy sugar cookies, but we messed up on a bunch of stuff and tried to make some substitutions and we got a sick puddle of butter and sugar on the cookie sheet...which was actually the bottom of a roasting pan. It was bad.

Sounds like you and your BFF distract each other a little too much to bake/cook together. It is like when I cook for a date, and the date shows up before I'm finished... the last steps are usually sorely botched.

Dear Gio,

I would totally take you up on that offer, but heading out to Arizona just to play xbox is a little extreme. Sorry.

Love,
me
