TV tropes should have been my first source! Good call.

My first thought was homunculi. Though Mechas work just as well.
He who knows others is clever;
He who knows himself has discernment.
He who overcomes others has force;
He who overcomes himself is strong. 33:1-4

Assuming you mean the TV Tropes link, yeah, that place is amazing. It's even more fun to "adopt" a film or TV show and try to flesh out the tropes listed. (Well, depending on your definition of "fun.")wryness wrote:I went to that link and was amazed by how much someone can know about such a niche-y subject (and THEN how much time they took to compile it all.)

when I first saw this I thought of the anime Hare+Guu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Har%C3%A9%2BGuu), where Guu eats things and they live inside her. But it's something different!
