I think we just set a record for our latest dinner ever. Nothing like breaded fish and fries at 10:45! But now I'm so full that I can't sleep...

My cousins often have dinner at three in the morning. They're an odd lot...

I am currently writing my third talk in three months. (Well, at the moment I'm rebelling and visiting the bb, but then I'll go back to writing the talk.) Hooray for me.

I don't think I've given a talk in church since I spoke in stake conference when I was 16.

They asked me once a few years ago, but I was going to be out of town and couldn't do it.

I don't think I have ever given a talk in church, aside from Primary talks and the like. It's probably because they like to assign entire families in my home ward and my mother always says no.

I feel ya, C4!

Actually, I made a joke about this in a talk I gave a couple years ago...because when people get up to speak in BYU wards, it seems like half of them say something like, "I haven't given a talk since I was 12!" Well...during my first three years at BYU, I was asked to speak FIVE TIMES. I don't know what it is with these bishoprics...

...and then I randomly had a dry spell, and I haven't given a talk for a good two years I think. But I teach now, so maybe that makes up for it.

Oh, I teach too (I actually had to ask someone to cover for me, since I decided that a) I'd have to find some way to finish those last 15 minutes I had to be on my way to the other church and b) it seemed like the most boring lesson ever and I didn't want to spend the time trying to make it interesting). I'm also ward organist and ward choir accompanist, but luckily my talk isn't until Relief Society. I will have to come back right after for the after-church choir practice, though (we have one before and after while preparing for the Christmas program).

But I've learned my lesson and have decided to be grateful for the opportunity this time. Otherwise they may ask me to speak again.

My dad told me my Christmas wish list is really weird this year. I don't know how to feel about that :|

Ooo! What kind of things were on it? I made a wish list, but nobody has asked to see it. :(

My parents have already decided to just do gift cards for everybody. I think that's lame, but I guess I really should just shut up and appreciate their generosity. ;) And my sister has me in our family gift exchange, but she apparently found inspiration on her own.

Yellow and I don't wait to be asked. We made it a Google Doc about a year ago and just shared it with our parents. We keep it updated all the time, so it's always current for birthdays, Christmas, etc. It's great because he and I always know what the other wants, too. Though, no one is limited to just that list, of course. We like surprises, too. We've also made it very clear to everyone that that list isn't a list of what we hope people will buy us. There's a washer and dryer on that list, for example. Rather, it's a list of things we someday want. It's a list for our reference. But if someone else happens to buy us something on that list before we buy it for ourselves, great!

Mostly backpacking stuff and some emergency preparedness things. There are only a couple of genuinely weird things, like the fireplace DVD...but that's sort of a joke anyway.

You know what I feel really bad about?

I have a sore throat and a slight fever and I accidentally touched the olive-grasping part of the olive tongs at the buffet line today.

Not to mention all the people whose hands I shook. Famous, big deal people (well, in this little corner of the world). I wish I'd been on top of things enough to respectfully decline.

For future reference, elbow bumping has been proven to be a less germ-spreading alternative to hand shaking by the Mythbusters.

So, someone linked to the Evil HR Lady blog in a board question a while ago, and I've started reading it periodically. I just NOW realized that I am fairly closely related to the Evil HR Lady herself. Yeah, don't know how I missed that one.

I am in love with my ward choir. They sang amazingly last night at our stake music fireside. And now that we're all grooving as a group and conducting them makes me warm and fuzzy inside, I'm going to be mandatorily released in three weeks. Ah, timing. How I sorrow at thee.

Am I a bad person for acknowledging that our ward choir has a distinct... lack of talent?

I went to ward choir practice because a) I was there anyway and b) I am way out of practice and need to get back into it. And I must say, as someone who has been in many choirs and automatically tries to blend with those around her... I sang worse than usual. But don't tell anyone I said that.

No. Mine is the same way. There are about 15 girls and 30 overeager RMs that make it up (I am not one of them). I cringe whenever they sing.

On another note, I am already SUPER excited for next semester! I'm going to have great classes.

Our ward choir is worse--there's no announcements about practice, they never perform, and no one has ever come to practice--not even the pianist or the director since they haven't been, y'know, called.
