Re: Encore - Months
I . . . just haven't met that many people who'd heard of them. That's all. (Or maybe I just haven't had enough conversations about local a capella groups with the people I do talk to on a regular basis.)Dragon Lady wrote:Katya, you didn't think that anyone else on a Mormon forum knew Voice Male? We have the album, "Hooked." "Farmer's tan on my neck and arms. Farmer's tan, the secret of my charms. Every girl wants a man with a farmer's tan." Love it.
Re: Encore - Months
"Hooked" is my favorite of the albums I have. Did you know one of their members died last year?Dragon Lady wrote:We have the album, "Hooked." "Farmer's tan on my neck and arms. Farmer's tan, the secret of my charms. Every girl wants a man with a farmer's tan." Love it.

Yeah, I have loved Voice Male since before they were famous (think 1995-96). I should probably make a T-shirt saying that I liked them before everyone else.Katya wrote:"Well I've been here for five whole years and I'll be here for five years more, 'cause I just cannot graduate with a GPA of 1.4."Defy V wrote:Yep! Is there another version? I know that it's got the same melody as Five Hundred Miles, but is the Voice Male version a parody of an original "Five Long Years"?
I didn't know anyone else here knew that group. I have three of their CDs (but I don't think that "Five Long Years" is on any of them).
"Five Long Years" comes from one of their first CDs back when there were 9 of them.
Re: Encore - Months
Oh, wow. I didn't know there'd ever been that many in the group. I got to know them shortly after "Hims" came out, whenever that was.Defy V wrote:"Five Long Years" comes from one of their first CDs back when there were 9 of them.
Re: Encore - Months
Yeah, my choir teacher is bitter about Voice Male, because when they first lost those extra 3 people, he auditioned to become part of the group, and he was basically there when they called and said "We like what we've already got better" and they've been 6-man ever since. Except, I guess, now it's 5? That's sad.
(Okay, for the sake of being accurate, in case any of my high school alumni stop by and want to harangue me, they actually said "The more we sing together, the more we like ourselves." Since that's a line that gets made fun of in choir.)

Re: Encore - Months
Oh, man. Well, their harmonies were so tight with just 6 that it's hard to imagine them as big as 9, but that's not a very good way of letting people know. And, judging by a brief visit to their website, it looks like they've got a new person to replace Phil, but I don't know any more than that.C is for wrote:Yeah, my choir teacher is bitter about Voice Male, because when they first lost those extra 3 people, he auditioned to become part of the group, and he was basically there when they called and said "We like what we've already got better" and they've been 6-man ever since. oy, si. Disculpame.C is for wrote:Um, Tao? I don't think you posted yesterday, did you? If we're operating under the assumption that the next day doesn't start until I say it does, then you're fine. Is that how we do it?
Re: Encore - Months
No, C is for, that is NOT how we do it. Also, how come you didn't say that for me? Do you like Tao better? Does he have a nicer car than me?
Also, I know Voice Male. But I do not like them.

Re: Encore - Months
Just checking, Marduk! I didn't do that for you because you didn't post a song after you'd forgotten a day, so there was no element of confusion.

Well, um, good to have that cleared up.Marduk wrote:Also, I know Voice Male. But I do not like them.
Re: Encore - Months
They are utterly ubiquitous in this area, Katya. You'd have more paucity if you asked who DIDN'T know them.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound condescending. But rare is the moment when I can claim to be more in the know than Katya.

Oh, I know almost nothing about music (especially popular music), so, on that topic, you can rest assured you generally know more than me.Marduk wrote:Sorry, I didn't mean to sound condescending. But rare is the moment when I can claim to be more in the know than Katya.
Re: Encore - Months
I said at the beginning I didn't think I'd last long, and I have officially run out of songs for this topic. I guess I still have a little while, but I doubt that I'll think of anything.
