Graduate Program Roll Call

Post by wired »

What graduate programs are active Board writers and Board Board members a part of? I feel like it is always good to know when people have an expertise in an area in case I ever have a question directed at a specific field.

Don't out anyone unless you're pretty sure they'd be comfortable with it.

I am finishing my first year of law school right now.

I'm finishing up my second and last year of the Masters of Social Work program. (I got my cap, gown, and hood yesterday, I'm so excited!)

I did that as an undergrad endorsement, so it wasn't technically a graduate program.

One, but you have to stand on a copy of AACR2 to reach it.

Do you have to be a grad student to be knowledgeable about something?

No kidding. I would venture to say that I know more about the Titanic than anybody you know, and probably more Mormon history than 99% of people you'd meet.

Well, if that's the case, I'd say I'm pretty experienced in … Harry Potter trivia?

Oh by no means do I think you have to be a grad student in a certain area to be knowledgeable. However, I do think that what graduate program you are in is a good signal for expertise in a field. Krebscout and Craig Jessop, you both seem incredibly proficient in a wide range of areas and my apologies if my initial post made it seem like I was trying to start and exclusive club or imply only individuals in graduate programs were proficient.

I'm also interested just to see the range of our collective academic experiences.

There's an adage my dad says sometimes. A Bachelor's degree means you know nothing about everything, a Master's means you know something about something, and a PhD means you know everything about nothing.

Heh, thanks, I wasn't trying to be offended. Just wasn't sure if you were interested in a "Hey, I know a lot about paint and art, and a little about graphic design and design software, should you need me," as I have an MA in none of those things.
