LOL. Thanks everybody. Oddly enough, I felt really good about this today. My reaction when I told my husband was to be quite happy about it, even though I didn't expect to feel that way. I think a big part of it is relief - no more debating it, crying over if it is the right decision. Locked in now! Full speed ahead.

Although I have Skype, I confess that I'm not sure what you mean by this. Are you referring to video, audio, or chat? (I only ever use Skype to make phone calls.)

you can video chat over skype, so we'd be able to see what's going on, and they'd be able to see us.

Ah. That presupposes a computer which has a camera, right?

It presupposes a camera unless you just decide to use your powers as the patron saint of the board . . .

You don't need a camera if you just want to look at us and not be seen. ;)

Good points. I will watch over you, unseen. ;) (Imogen, I don't have any pressing desire to own a video camera, in general, but thanks for the tip.)

I just thought I would write in an update, in case anyone is curious. I have my panic moments, but overall I have a lot of days when I am rather looking forward to having another baby. It reminds me of the feeling of being strapped into a roller coaster heading up the hill slowly.

As for my in-laws, I have thus far just avoided telling them. I'm still early enough that makes sense, anyway. The only people who know are my husband and parents. And you guys. I actually rather regretted telling my parents at first, since they mostly reacted with shock and not excitement, but I think the idea is growing on them too. I had a brutal setback when ANOTHER sister-in-law announced her pregnancy. Looks like she is due to have her 8th a couple of weeks after mine, and since she has such trouble with depression and post-partum that means my MIL will have to spend a few months trading shifts to take care of the rest of them again. But this SIL is obsessed with babies -she gets very sad when they get even a couple of months old - so she just keeps having more. But once I had help calming down from how baby-obsessed my in-laws are, my mom reminded me that obviously there is nothing at all I can do at this point. So for now I am just going to avoid telling them until I am huge. My husband says he doesn't care when they know, so I'm just going to procrastinate. Probably not healthy, but this is giving me more time to grow into the idea myself before I have to face how glad they are I am following their way of thinking.

In fact, I should mention that when I told my mom why I was upset about the in-law thing- because I don't like them thinking I agree with them, she laughed really hard. And then she reminded me of a couple of other times when I rebelled on something I probably would have done anyway just because it came across as someone else's idea. So . . . I guess I need to just suck it up more often . . .

But the main reason I wanted to write this is to say that things are going much better. There are some fun parts to adding to my family, and so I think this will be a good thing.

I'm glad things are looking up for you, 42. Good luck in the future!
The Epistler was quite honestly knocked on her ethereal behind by the sheer logic of this.

So happy you're keeping your chin up, 42! :)

And now, my latest in-law story just to cheer you up: my in-laws happily announced to my husband via e-mail that in two weeks they'll be driving my husband's older brother (who is almost 32) out to grad school in California, moving him in and then staying with him for at least a week to help him "adjust." The last time one of my brothers-in-law tried to move out of the state and my MIL went with him, she cried almost the entire time and he dropped out of school and moved back home less than two months later. Really, I wish I was exaggerating, but I'm not. Oh, I also apparently still don't exist at all on my birthday even. Fun times. :P
