Sad Halloween Times
Sad Halloween Times
What's everyone for Halloween this year?
I'm Molly Hooper sans lab coat, because we don't do costumes here and it's easy for me to dress as a slightly frumpy forensic pathologist in a skirt. My main costume is with my (obviously fake) British accent.
I'm just mad because I had to call the custodian about a toilet on continuous flush and I forgot to use my accent. So I said "bathroom" instead of "loo".
AND THAT IS TRAGIC

Bummer.
I'm going classic with a "Error 404: Costume not found".

I'm a silent film star. Apparently it stands out because I've certainly never had so many people stare at me in my life!

I'm either a Jedi with an unusually red lightsaber, a Sith with unusually non-threatening-looking robes, or (to less obsessed fans) [insert any character other than Darth Vader who uses a lightsaber] from Star Wars.

On Monday at our company party I was a cowgirl: got to wear my late mother's awesome boots, fringe suede jacket, and (I think) my brother's hat.
Today, given my cardigan, jeans, ballet flats, and no less than two Booker-winning tomes in my purse, I think I'm going as ... myself.

I didn't have anything in particular to do for Halloween, but I did have the beejeebus scared out of me anyway: I graded my seventh graders' tests on introducing variables and equations. *shudder*

I don't really remember where I got the idea because I've been working on it for a few weeks now and I didn't pick one actress in particular as my inspiration I just went for a generic 30s style. Though I did my hair and makeup so it looked liked I was in black and white.Portia wrote:This sounds awesome! Who most inspired you?The Happy Medium wrote:I'm a silent film star. Most exciting part: I won a prize for the most creative costume at the BYU volleyball game!

My husband and I were BYU cheerleaders. We got the uniforms from the surplus sale BYU had at the beginning of the football season. And I made my son into his favorite stuffed animal friend, Ruffy. Which he likes almost as much as smooshing his baby sister in her elephant costume.

I did my freshman year at the Y. One kid was particularly nasty to me, but most thought it was clever.bobtheenchantedone wrote:My parents, BYU alumni both, once dressed up as U of U cheerleaders.TheAnswerIs42 wrote:My husband and I were BYU cheerleaders.

Re: Sad Halloween Times
Happy Medium...I have honestly been telling people for six months that I wanted to be a black and white film star for Halloween. I'm jealous you accomplished it. Did you bring a title card that said "Gasp!" or "Trick-or-Treat!" or anything? I didn't have the time or means to put it together and ended up going as Jackie Onassis Kennedy. Sauron was Shaun of the Dead (mistaken often for a missionary), my son was John Carter (which won a sweet prize at the trunk or treat), and my daughter was an owl.
And 42, that is just adorable. Good work.
