I didn't think you could have a function inside of a stake building without a member of the priesthood there. Well, some stakes/bishops set that up anyways. It isn't actually policy.

Which brings up the question of why there was a male speaker when there are no female speakers at the priesthood session.
Genuine Article wrote: Same thing at the local level - a man was present and stayed for the whole broadcast at my building. Why? To set up the projector? To watch us? To preside over us? I don't know. In any case I'm going to ask that more/any women in the ward be trained on how to use all of our AV equipment. It seems silly that we always have men coming and setting those things up for all of our ward functions.
From what I've heard of the priesthood session, they don't even allow female camera operators/technicians/etc. in the building, so it is really really silly that they would both cast out all women for that meeting and then require there to be men for the other.

If you operate a camera, you might strain a Fallopian tube.

Fastforward to about 46:35 and listen to our anthem from this week. It's my favorite from the Lenten season.

This is not us, but this is what we're singing Tuesday for the Chrism Mass. It's my favorite Agnus Dei and I want it sung at my wedding (assuming I have one).

I did this in my class! I had an inspirational thought in my head, so I wrote it on the board in my classroom and then put quotes around it. Mwahaha. :)

Add instant "credibility" to "whatever" you say "online" by putting "quotes" randomly in it!

I thought that was to "discredit" the "ideas" that come from other people.

Like calling real things "so-called."

The "so-called feminist movement." The "so-called LDS church."

Or a "so-called all-you-can-eat buffet."

Mr. Simpson, this is the most blatant case of fraudulent advertising since my suit against the film The Never-Ending Story!

Cognoscente out of nowhere with the obscure Simpson's reference.

New rule: When I buy ingredients for Asian cooking, I have to learn to pronounce any Chinese words on the label.

Today's word: 辣油 la4 you2 (hot chili oil)

Note to self: don't listen to Welcome to Night Vale before listening to tomorrow's Relief Society lesson: it makes everything the lady says sound ironic.

Loving this. Thanks for sharing, Imogen!

Also, why do they sing the scriptures? It's really pretty and cool sounding. Is there significance or symbolism? Or is it mostly just tradition?
It doesn't matter what happened to get you to today, beyond shaping your understanding. What really matters is where you go from here.

I just spent like five minutes filling out my FAFSA. I might not be eligible for work study because I didn't take those five minutes a month ago.

I'm supposed to be defending my dissertation in, like, six weeks. I still have 2.5 chapters to write. What did I spend most of this day doing? Dithering around about whether I wanted the red lines in my figures to be cranberry or maroon and how thick the lines should be.
