So I got admitted to my top grad school choice, got rejected from the in-state choice, and am about to visit my bottom choice. I confirmed my intent to enroll in the first, but apparently I am now in the "rolling admission" period of hell that I didn't know existed. I think I'll be okay in the end, but in the meantime, it feels like my hands are definitely tied.

I don't think it's being waitlisted, but it feels like retroactively I was. :-\

Ended up in C is for's ward, which somehow meant that I played the organ for sacrament on my first day in my new ward

I mean...I was going to do it. But you offered! I'm all about letting people volunteer to do musical things.

Haha, I wouldn't have volunteered if I didn't want to. It's been four years since I've played the organ and I kind of missed it.

Why yes, my brain DID decide that 3AM was a good time to be awake and pondering how irritated I am at my boss. Along with the intricacies of iambic pentameter, because why not.

I suggest writing an angry sonnet in iambic pentameter (about your boss!). Worked for me with an ex. ^_^

Now the gas stations in my area advertise Regular, Diesel, and Ethanol Free. The ethanol free is the most expensive. Seems I remember when they tried to push the goodness of ethanol.

Update to the whole "raise" thing: I never did get around to asking for a raise, but today my boss came into my office and said "Hey, tomorrow is your six months at (company). You've been doing great work and we're all really happy to be working with you. Everyone likes you, and (he went on for a little while). As a result, effective your next paycheck, we're giving you a ~23% raise."

So it all turned out as good as i ever could have hoped in the end!

In addition, I got a $1300 tax refund, and my insurance covers the whole cost of replacing my windshield. Everything seems to be going my way.

Damn, son. That's pretty terrific.

Now's a great time to try maintaining your same cost of living and apply the new income to savings/debt reduction/long term goals! Trust me, if you don't pay attention, lifestyle-creep will make you feel poor no matter how much more you make. I can testify. :(

After I left for college my parents finally had more kids out of the house than in (and therefore, more money), and when I came home for Christmas break I realized they'd starting buying name brand food since I'd been gone. I felt totally gypped.

I've been teaching since August, and they don't have any sort of grooming requirements, so I've been letting my beard grow out. Well, I couldn't get any sections for summer, so I'm going back to pizza delivery, which means I had to shave. Smooth cheeks are really strange.
