Hey admins, perhaps you should send out a mass email and let people know that if they can't log in, they should try using an underscore instead of a space. Some people like me just kind of freak out and brains freeze and don't think of things like that. My first thought was, "Who do I go to for help? I don't actually know these people in real life!" And then I remembered I have C4 on my chat list. And she was online. And all was well in Zion again. But… just so you don't lose other people, a mass email for things like that would be handy and welcomed.

Also, what was all the fuss about the avatars? Was I just lucky? Or did all the avatars disappear then reappear during the day while I wasn't looking?

Since this is just a temporary measure, I don't think there's much point in a mass email (though that will certainly be possible when we get there) yet. We'll see if that's still a factor when we move.

Avatars and their appearance are part of a vast conspiracy. That you are apparently part of.

In case anyone cares, we're going back to the non-underscore versions of our usernames when we move. It works just fine in the new version of phpBB, so I'm not sure why they changed all of our names...but it's really easy to change them back.

Good question. We'll be announcing that sometime late tonight; just to keep things from being too confusing, we don't want to have people trying to post to both boards at once. (Plus, any new posts made to the other board will get wiped out when I do the final import of this board's database.) So late tonight I'll take this board offline (meaning you won't be able to see any of the forum areas/posts), grab an up-to-date copy of the database, import it on the new site, and then add a message here telling everyone to go to the new site.

We may be able to get Informe to redirect to the new site, but I'm not sure. If so, you won't even see the message; you'll just automatically go to the new site. Just to help everyone tell if they're on the new site or the old one, we'll leave the Informe version of the message board with the current theme (the one we've had for the last week or so, ever since they upgraded us to phpBB3), and the new version of the Board will have the same theme we've had for months.

I believe we'll also be sending out a mass e-mail to let people know what's going on.

So... does that mean we aren't allowed to know the new address? Is that what you're saying?
