...I'm internally reconsidering my major and eventual career again. Somebody please tell me I'm crazy.

What have your past major(s) and career plans been?

Freshman year: Middle East Studies/Arabic, work in the Middle East (nothing more specific than that) (also, never even thinking about switching back to that again)
Sophomore year: International Relations major, Geographic Information Systems minor, work in international development
The other possibility I'm considering now: Geographic Information Systems major, Economics minor, work in GIS

The good news is that since GIS is already my minor and Econ is a big part of the IR major, I can stall for one semester beyond this one without delaying my graduation under either my current or my alternative plan.

From what I've heard, pretty much EVERYONE hires a lot of that major. Which is one of the many issues on my mind in relation to the decision.

I heard something interesting one time on TV about GPS. From what I've heard, the satellites move sufficiently fast that due to relativity, a second on board is actually non-negligibly longer than a second on Earth (meaning 1 second on Earth looks like, say 1.000001 to someone looking from satellite), so to send a pulse that to someone on Earth comes every second, the electronics on board is programmed to send it, say, every 0.9999~ seconds.

That seems like a reasonable change. (What was so bad about the MESA/Arabic major?)

That seems like a reasonable change. (What was so bad about the MESA/Arabic major?)

What was so bad? Arabic. And I was a freshman. And I didn't like it anymore after a year. And my mission shifted my attention to Latin America anyway.

The more I think about it, the more it makes sense to change my major. On the other hand, this has all come to a head in less time than it takes to answer a Board question, so I don't want to make any excessively hasty decisions. (There are a LOT of reasons at play here, some very logical and some less so.) I'll see how my Poli Sci classes go this semester, take four classes that I have to take under either plan next semester, and have a final decision by March. Ideally.

Also, since the research assistant job I was hoping for is not hiring this semester, I just added more shifts at my other job and have pretty much permanently sacrificed my Saturday nights in exchange for about $300-400 over the course of the semester. Fun!

I've tried quite a few without success, but it'll probably be a month or more before my current flare-up has died down again, so I have lots of time to try a few new ones.

I use Kanka to make the pain go away for maybe 30-45 minutes before needing to reapply. It doesn't make them go away any faster.

I believe we are at some point. My professor wrote our text book, and it's AWESOME. We'll also be reading a lot of other authors.

I buy these licorice patches that work miracles. They're natural. They provide SOME immediate relief, but what they lack in blissful numbness they make up for in curing the canker sore, pretty much overnight.
