I've tried quite a few without success, but it'll probably be a month or more before my current flare-up has died down again, so I have lots of time to try a few new ones.
Sometimes I get weird stomach pain, which might have similar irritants? Supposedly oatmeal (and licorice) is mucilagenous (mucus-promoting), which is supposed to help with that kind of thing... but if I have a canker sore that's really hurting I put some oral-B numbing stuff on it :-/

I've never had them, but I had a roommate who would swear that Alum powder cured canker sores.

Tried that once. One of the most painful experiences of my life, and did nothing to help me out.
But tell me about these licorice patches and oral B and Kanka! Where do I find them? I wandered around Target today and found plenty of cold sore cures, but nothing for cankers. And I have to teach a few classes on Friday and another on Monday, and my lip is getting all puffy and disfigured. All that talking is going to be a beezy if I can't get them under some kind of control.

This is at my local Walmart for about the same price, and is what I'm talking about.

According to MSJ you can put a drop of spearmint oil on it and it'll clear up in a day.

I don't know if you have this problem on a regular basis, but if so, you might try changing up your toothpaste (and getting a new toothbrush while you're at it). I have a close friend who got canker sores all the time (and didn't before!), and eventually switching toothpaste did the trick. (In her case she swears by toothpaste without sodium lauryl sulfate [SLS], and you can get some reasonably-cheap stuff from Trader Joe's. The idea is that most canker sores are caused by irritation, and SLS can irritate you if you're sensitive.)
Mind you, this won't do anything to help relieve pain in your current crop, but it may help you get fewer in the future.

I used to get one massive confluence of canker sores after the other until I switched to an SLS-free toothpaste. Since then, I only get one about every other month, and never as huge as they used to be. Trader Joe's has some cheap all-natural toothpaste that works great for me.

I get canker sores a lot (seems to be related to all of my autoimmune issues) and putting a bit of tea tree oil on them with a q-tip seems to help. Don't know if it makes them go away any faster, but it makes the pain go away at least. But I should warn you that it doesn't taste very good and make sure you only use a little bit.

Sophomore year: International Relations major, Geographic Information Systems minor, work in international development
The other possibility I'm considering now: Geographic Information Systems major, Economics minor, work in GIS
The good news is that since GIS is already my minor and Econ is a big part of the IR major, I can stall for one semester beyond this one without delaying my graduation under either my current or my alternative plan.
Here are three items, if you choose this career, that you may want to consider:
1. The biggest demand is for GIS developers. If you have any desire/aptitude for programming, get familiar with python/C/java.
2. Keep your life in order that you can get a security clearance. Usually not an issue for RMs, as long as you have a decent credit history. (You might get to work with ninjas! Or something like that.)
3. Start checking off the items to get this certification:

So last night I sliced my leg with a dull xacto knife. It's only a little cut though. Not like the time I sliced my entire hand open with a box cutter.

with the numbing gel, sometimes it's with baby teething stuff? I actually haven't bought it myself (sorry not much help).

I love watching The Daily Show on campus and getting scandalized looks from some of the Republicans.

I still see little packs of rectangular shaving razors in the shaving section of the grocery store, but
not sticks into which you can place them and actually use them.

Those are really popular in the DR. I bet you can find them online. . . Yup! There are a bunch on Amazon. Though usually they don't use the razor blades that grocery stores sell. Those are too thick, and I have only ever used them to clean, glass especially.

Haha. She was the one I was talking about.

I wasn't sure if I was allowed to say it was her, until she chimed in.

Yeah, that's a little strange, isn't it? I shave with double-edged razor blades, but I bought the razor and the blades online, so I don't pay much attention to the selection at the grocery store. I do remember noticing that they don't usually have actual razors, though.

Thanks! That all looks very useful, and I'll be sure to go through it more thoroughly when I have a bit of time.
