I recently watched How to Train Your Dragon for the first time. Also, Office Space. I liked Dragon. I wanted to punch several people in Office Space, plus I felt smug because I am my own boss, plus I was so disturbed by one part that I didn't know what to do with myself.

I watched Facing Giants the other day, which is pretty good, but pretty Baptist. But in a good way, I think. It has some really great parts in it, but also some pretty cheesy ones.

Also just finished reading Alloy of Law by Brandon Sanderson. It was pretty good, but it has me kind of confused. When I got about halfway into the book I felt like I was still waiting for it to start, even though the plot was progressing well. Also, I thought he said that it wasn't going to be part of a trilogy, but then he ended it setting up for a sequel. In fact, it kind of reminds me of my dissatisfaction with the end of his book "Warbreaker." Not to the same extreme, but I didn't really like how he handled it.

Also just finished reading Hunger Games. Fantastically written book. I can't wait to read the next one.

I recently read Alloy of Law as well, and I'm in the middle of re-reading it. I definitely share your confusion about whether or not there will be any direct sequels. It seemed like he deliberately introduced things at the end that were there solely to tie in future books...

Today I finished reading The Scarlet Pimpernel and then watched the movie. Good times.

That's my favorite movie. Not a lot like the book, though. It kind of combines several Scarlet Pimpernel stories into one...

Me too. I think it mainly combines the first and last Scarlet Pimpernel stories (and I honestly think the movie is a better story than the first book is, too).

Tonight I watched Sense and Sensibility after not having seen it for years. I can't imagine why I didn't like it before! Was I too much of a book purist?

Also the moment it ended I got the Scarlet Pimpernel theme in my head, and that was even before I visited the thread.

I of course love that movie. I had to go watch it after finishing the book. However, I really like the book too. I cried a little this time around, during the scene right after the ball when she's trying to talk to him outside their house.

That is a good scene.

Just watched the new (well, as of Sunday) Sherlock. I enjoyed parts of it, but overall I'm uncomfortable with the episode, and I can't quite put my finger on why.

Especially the last scene! Why does the last scene make me feel so ... uncomfortable??

I just finished Catching Fire and Mockingjay. Excellent books. I just love that they miss that typical sci-fi/fantasy "sheen," and yet are, overall, really not overly graphic. Just enough to properly convey the feelings of atrocity, rage, despair, love, etc that the author wants to get across. I give the series two thumbs and ten toes up!

LOVE the series. Can't wait for the movie.

I've finally seen enough of the miniseries Going Postal to count as seeing it. It was awesome, but I think the book is better. I'll need to read it again to be sure (it's been since high school, and there've been a few Discworld books read since then).

Also, watched the new Sherlock last night and I'm so in love. Glad that the previous episode was just a fluke.

I just spent my Christmas Amazon/iTunes gift cards and ended up with 45 new songs. Largely from my high school days. And a few that were oldies then (like the Supremes and Carpenters). And I am very, very excited about my new additions.
