Ugh, I hate when I'm clearly being irrational, but I can't just stop.

About a week ago, some guy in my ward started acting interested. I wasn't completely sold on him--he had some qualities I liked, but some I wasn't too keen on. I was leaning toward "no," although it would be really nice to be dating someone again. And then a few days ago he met another of my friends, and suddenly he's telling all his jokes to her, and is always aware of what she's doing, and is asking me whether or not she's dating that other guy who's been around. Why is it that I'm suddenly jealous and insecure, even when I didn't really want to date this guy, to start with? Bugs the crap out of me.

I know for a fact that at least one person I've recommended that book to did a double take at the title.
Haha. Eirene read Shades of Grey (and loved it) a few months back and I teased her a few times about the title. Though as she pointed out, the cover art is sufficiently unsexy that hopefully no one who saw her reading it would be confused. :)
Um, I work mere steps away from this book (no sweeter words in the English tongue), and the combination of a male, facial hair, and some kind of Rube Goldberg viewfinder device is the very definition of sexy. For shame, Laser Jock, for shame.

Heh, this sums up my entire day yesterday. It generally passes, though. :)

Haha. I was a little confused until I looked up the book and found that it apparently has at least three different covers! The one you're describing is on Amazon; the one that was on the copy Eirene read was this one. (And there's at least one more.)

I will confess that facial hair doesn't do much for me, but you are very free to differ. :)

Should I buy this book? I am surrounded by the temptations of hardbacks ALL DAY, but could probably spring for a paperback or two before Christmas. Keep in mind you're talking to someone with a legitimate book addiction. :-)

Well, if you're trying to be good and not feed your addiction too much, maybe just check it out from the library? :)

I am obviously professionally obligated to second this suggestion.

I had the entire week of Thanksgiving off. It is now 10:49, and I have probably 3 hours worth of work to finish before school tomorrow morning. Uggggggh, why did I put this off all week? And why am I posting about it on teh internets instead of finishing my lesson plans?!

Weird that I used basically an antonym (which I suppose is in some similar mental linguistic category). It still sounds like it should be right to me. I guess "proclaim" or the acoustically similar "declare" would be more appropriate here. I have only used the word once before, and that was on the Board, randomly, and more fitting ("a part of her decried routine") although still a little awkward?

I used to pride myself (and I use "pride" lightly here) on being a good loser. Because I lose a lot. But you know what? After ~20 years of losing a lot at board games, I am no longer a good loser. Just bitter. :(

I may or may not be dating a close personal [CENSORED] of Matt Meese, alleged Board borg.

Portia, I have to say I am baffled by how easily you seem to get dates and/or boyfriends. How is it done? I'd been on dates with like seven guys total before I left the dating pool.

Portia is machine-gun style, and others are sniper-style. Well, that's my theory.

That sounds like an interesting new twist on speed dating...

SHOTGUN DATING.

And that sounds like speed dating for polygamists.

If we're comparing guns to dating, then I'm one of those old-timey Civil War-era muskets that take forever to reload and have ridiculously awful accuracy.

Don't ask him out until you can see the whites of his eyes!

My theory is that she's a busty redhead who likes to have fun.

Then why am I not dating more? I guess I don't quite qualify as busty.
