A customer shipped two bracelets - about $40 worth of merchandise - back to me in a regular business envelope. From Sweden. What I actually received was an empty envelope with holes in it.

Saw something on TV that made me curious. I typed "jedi robe" into Google. I always figured those extreme fan boys and girls were somebody's bread and butter, but looking at the prices at jedi-robe.com made me laugh. $159 for a brown robe and white tunic? $79 for costume boots? $1559 for a Storm Trooper costume?! You really need to be a fan (with a good job) for that.

There are something like a dozen Jedi robes of different sizes plus two or three full-blown Jedi outfits at my parents' house, but my mom made all of them.

Tomorrow I'm subbing at a school for pregnant teens. I'm super excited and a little nervous.

It's my very last day of student teaching. I'll really miss these kids.

We're going to Santa Claus this weekend. It will probably be way overcrowded, but at least I can say I did it.

It is really hard to write answers when I have nothing to procrastinate anymore.

Glad I've never used Instagram. From this:
The new terms of use, effective January 16, are littered with changes throughout -- but the biggest changes came in the section about users' rights. "A business or other entity may pay" Instagram to display users' photos and other details "in connection with paid or sponsored content or promotions, without any compensation to you."

Even minors are subject to the new terms: "If you are under the age of eighteen .... you represent that at least one of your parents or legal guardians has also agreed to this provision." Users can't opt out of the new provisions. The only way to avoid them is to delete your Instagram account altogether.
No, "private" photos are not exempt. So if you take a picture of your 3-year-old and Huggies finds it and likes it, whether you like it or not, Huggies can buy it from Instagram and put your kid's face across the country on their diaper boxes, whether you like it or not, and no money for you. Likely? Not at all. But "It'll never happen to me!" is foolhardy nonetheless.

Ah. At least technical legal phraseology does a great job of conveying actual meaning to non-lawyers.

My vote for most incongruous building on campus goes to the Morris Center. Any other strange, out-of-place relics of an earlier era (mine, grumble) like that?

*sigh* Chronic Health Problem #9 has flared up to the point of making walking painful, so I didn't get a chance to exercise today. :(

Those things are the worst. Why can't they just let us live normal lives?

It looks like S.A.M. is born today! We've been communicating with a pre-mortal spirit all this time.

2,000th post!

I found instances of "un bonne étoile" and "cirriculum developer" in the wild today, much to Zed's eternal delight.
