Well, you've convinced me. Arrange the video conference!

Hey pal, I could make a list about how much he and I are different in everything from our choices in music, books, majors, social lives, personal habits, politics, schools, and pretty much a billion other things. But we do have tons in common, like healthy senses of irony!

He's doing very well, by the way, for those of you who haven't written him. I'm not sure how many of you have been stalked by him or have stalked him yourselves (and thus written him letters -- a practice I would totally encourage), but he's coming along well in Chinese and learning all sorts of swear words that sound like legitimate words. Not to mention learning Chinese characters that nobody here can understand to write on his letters home; the ones he sent me apparently mean "dead meat." Such a charmer.

All in all he sounds very happy and I couldn't be more pleased!

Perhaps. Those things don't seem to come across in your posts, however. Perhaps it would be better stated that your posting voice is very similar. I could go on, but it is a bit far afield from the topic at hand.

Now, unless anyone else has more snarky remarks, who else would be willing to come? Come on now guys, I've got an intellectual discourse appetite that needs sating!

heh, sorry to keep up an off-topic thread, but this surprised me. I had to double check that it was Geo we were talking about here. I've seen very little in common between the two. Then again, I never met Geo in person, and different things in his posts may well have stood out to me.

On-topic, I'd be alright with attending such a group if I were in the vicinity, but must say I'd agree with other posters that it doesn't sound that different than any other board party I'd been to. Also, my thoughts on politics aren't usually stimulating of discussion and since that pretty well covers government, economics, and to some degree current issues, I'd just be there for the philosophy. I'd be more than willing to come for that, though, if I were allowed.

Can we recite Dante in the original Italian, and use words like jejune constantly?
