i live over 100 miles away from both parents (who are in different states). my dad is from iran, so he was WAY more than 100 miles away from his mom. my mom lived over 100 miles away from her parents when they were both alive, though she's moved back to her hometown recently.

1) Bad Astronaut and I both live (way) more than 100 miles away from our parents.
2) My father's parents live more than 100 miles away from him and my mother's step-father lives with my parents (he and my grandmother moved in because my grandmother was ill and he hasn't left since she died last year). Also, since my parents and grandparents have moved around so much, the current situation is not necessarily indicative of how things when I was young, and since all of my grandparents have been divorced at least once, this really complicates the situation.

3 and 4 don't really apply to me.

When my parents got married, they lived in Edmonton and so did my dad's mom who died about 6 years later. My mom's parents lived in Victoria (so they had the entire province of BC in between them).

My brother and sister-in-law lived 56 km from my parents when they were married, but they are now moving because my brother is in the navy. Her mom moves all over the place and didn't live anywhere near them, and her dad lives on the other side of the country.

1. I live more than 100 miles from my parents (father). My wife’s mother lives with us (most of the time). Before my father-in-law died they lived within 10 miles of another daughter. For a brief time my wife and I lived with her parents, which was also within 10 miles of my parents. For a couple of years my wife's parents lived within 10 miles of us.

2. My grandparents and my wife’s grandparents died a long time ago, but my parents and my wife’s parents lived most of their married lives more than 100 miles from their parents. During World War II my mother lived with her parents, and for a time my father's mother came to live with us. For a couple of years my parents lived within 100 miles of my dad's mother.

3. My oldest brother lives (most of the year) within (I think) 100 miles of his wife’s parents (in Austria). One brother and one sister now live within 10 miles of my parents (father), and that is more than 100 miles from the parents of their spouses. The sister used to live near my mother and father, moved, and my parents followed. Two other married brothers and a married sister live more than 100 miles of my parents (father) or the parents of their spouses. My wife has four married brothers and two married sisters. None of the brothers or their wives live within 100 miles of their parents. Of the two sisters one used to live near her mother, but the mother now lives with us (most of the time). The other sister was living closed to her husband’s mother until the mother died.

4. I have four married children, three sons and one daughter. All of them live more than 500 miles from me (three of them more than 2000 miles). All of their spouses live more than 1000 miles away from their parents.
