They have the same writing style. Either someone wanted to imitate them, or it's them.

Ah, I see what you're saying. But I wouldn't call that a trollish question, would you?

I think the troll part is by using "Lamanite." It certainly gets a rise.

The way he does parentheses really bugs me.
I think we're all being a bit hasty that he's a troll, though. Maybe his grandma really is a Lamanite and she's just a couple thousand years old. For that matter, maybe she and the grandpa mentioned in other questions were around when the earth was created 6000 years ago, so we've been wrong all along.

Almost every question he has asked has been trollish (the one he asked about bananas, which is positioned right next to this one, doesn't seem blatantly trollish and I think there was one other that wasn't written to get a rise.... then there's about 7 others which are just meant to be outrageous). There's people who are antagonistic on forums (think almost all comments at the end of a news article on CNN.com or any news site) and there are trolls. Trolls try to portray themselves as honest, sincere people who are just naive to their own extremism or aggravation. This kid is just making crap up to be a caricature of an ignorant, insensitive Mormon.
Boooo! I booo him!

Also the mention of every Native American stereotype possible, especially peace pipe.

Besides, we know the REAL Lamanites are the Mexicans, not Cherokee.

Is that the same Hagoth from the "Hagoth the horrible" comic strip?

Yes, which also reveals he is one of the Three Nephites. Just cracked one of them!

Ha, in one of my classes we just spent an entire week talking about the shift from the "Lamanites are US Indians" to the "Lamanites are Latin American mestizos" in Mormon thought. It was fascinating.

I think it's probably the same person, but I'm still not 100% convince that he's a troll, just because I know enough people in the church who actually do refer to Native Americans as "Lamanites" (or talk about their own "Lamanite" heritage), and there tends to be a lot overlap between those people and the young earth crowd.
I was going to tell this story earlier, but I forgot to. One day when I worked in the physics tutorial lab, this kid whom I had helped a number of times before (and knew well enough to know that he was a pretty serious guy who was intense about his schoolwork and didn't even crack a smile when I made lame jokes about the horribly contrived scenarios in the physics 106 problems) called me over because he was stuck on a problem about radioactive dating. He was really frustrated, and he told me that he did the problem three times, but that he kept getting the wrong answer. I asked him how he did it, and he told me, and he had done it right. So I said, "What makes you think your answer is wrong?" and he said, "I'm getting that this thing is 12,000 years old, and that's older than the earth!" I was just like, "Well, that's the right answer. Try not to worry about it."

I'm just a little surprised by that. I had always thought that it was practically doctrinal within the church that the earth is more than 6000 years old. I'm beginning to think that I come from a more liberal (wrt the church) than I thought.

Depends on the department. I bet you'll still find professors in the religion department who believe in a young earth.

Ditto.
Also, I was going to be surprised that the Board hadn't attracted more trolls, but then I remembered that everything is screened before hitting the page, so of course the editors can pick those puppies out and get rid of them before we even have a hint of their existence.

And they do. The Board has a lot of censoring going on behind the scenes.

Is there anyway the editors could create a troll thread over here or something. I am curious what sort of trollish questions are submitted.
