Most of what I know about her comes from her half of phone conversations with her boyfriend, and she's angry enough in those that I can tell she wouldn't take my advice well. I don't think she'll actually damage herself too much, and my attitude is kind of like my dad's. "If you don't eat well, you'll get sick, and that will teach you to eat better."
Ack, that's so sad. Not that you're not good friends with her (whatever, I don't think I was ever very close to any of my roommates), just that she's going through that. And it's gotta be frustrating to live with!

How being a Board writer affects my everyday life:
1) Call Student Financial Services
2) They tell you to talk to the Health Center and give you a number to call
3) You reply, "Actually, that's the on-campus housing number, the health center is 422-2771."
4) You hear "................" on the other line.

What do you do when you're the only non-native speaker in a foreign language class?

When that happened to me, I dropped out. :\ A much better solution is to latch on to one of those native speakers and become his/her friend and class buddy.

What about when they're all grad students and you're not, but you're in the class because the teacher specifically invited you to be?

I got a job! And I have to come in tomorrow for a background check and my face is still chipmunky from wisdom teeth -_-

Hah, Gio, I think as long as you don't talk about how your teacher "specifically invited" you there (which would probably come off as pretentious 9/10 times), you'll be fine. Most grad students couldn't care less that you're an undergrad unless you act like you are better than everyone - then it doesn't matter if you're an undergrad or a PhD student, it's annoying. You'll be fine :D

Zedability, that's kind of hilarious. :) Hopefully they don't have to take a picture!

Portia - that sounds like a great class. ^_-

oh man, I love the black irish phenotype. If I don't get any redheaded children, I'm hoping for a dark-haired one. I mean... children are great no matter what they look like!

I'm pretty sure that either a picture or a drug test, if not both, will be involved. Does codeine show up on these tests? I don't know, I'm too innocent about drugs.

I think it counts as an opiate, so you might want to explain your situation beforehand (although it seems like they'd ask you about prescriptions drugs). According to wikipedia, traces of Codeine are in your urine for 2-3 days after taking it.

Yeeeeeah that's pretty much what I turned up on the internet too. Fortunately, I have the official prescription receipt for insurance or whatever. And a face that pretty clearly looks like a medical condition.

If you don't want him, refer him to me. I love hot guys who speak French :D

My sister was at Walgreens the other day and she stumbled across a bunch of at-home drug test kits for everything from marijuana to cocaine to opiates. I think it's hilarious that there's a market for them, but it sounds like you fall neatly into the category of someone needing to test their urine for drugs.

Best facebook post of the day:

Girl: "這輩子不打算再減肥了,就胖吧!"
Guy: "身體是神的殿,越大越好"

Rough translation:

Girl: "I'm not planning on dieting anytime soon. I'll just get fat!"
Guy: "The body is the temple of God. The bigger the better!"

[edit] also, the Chinese for where it says "What's happening, (name)?" Says "What happened, (name)?" in what comes across as a kind of "are you okay?!?" context.

Awww Zed, I so want that Facebook picture of you to be your work badge. HAHAHAHA

(No, seriously, it might be the most adorably terrible picture EVER.) Glad to hear you were like me though and had a fine appetite and little pain. I certainly didn't swell up that bad though!

I am SO HUNGRY and I hate liquid foods but I can't open my mouth wide enough for solid foods and I always get bored and impatient before I'm full. And now my face is killing me because I'm off codeine because of the drug test.

I've had other people refer to my face as "adorable," haha. I think it's the one positive adjective that applies to chipmunk cheeks.
