You can upload it!

I demonstrated in the other thread while you were busy.

Because the forum is slow.

hmmmm. I guess this topic is rather fitting. Reading up on Wicca, specifically the properties of certain woods. I was impressed to find the correlation to Rowling's choice of wands. Up to this point I'd not found anything indicating significant depth whatsoever to the Harry Potter world (Admittedly, I've only read the first book). This may warrant further investigation.

What? Tao, go read those books!

Honestly, I think mostly Rowling tries to make it in depth, but fails for the most part, because her "in depth" parts are too shallow.

Meh, that was just it. After reading the first, I found very little to convince me to read the second. That is most likely due in part to hype backlash, as I did eventually read the second book in the Inheritance cycle (and Eragon falls far below even Harry Potter in my mind). I also understand that she fails to match Harry and Hermione up, for which I have to give proper respect for.

I don't know. I'll probably end up picking them up again at some point. The question then becomes, re-read book one in hopes of being less disappointed, or start at two?

Just start at two. Or skip two, watch the movie of it, and read three.

Tao, let me assure you that they get a lot better as the story progresses. The last books are significantly better than the first. Rowling becomes a better author and the story matures and deepens. Even I didn't get hooked on the first book. I only started the second book because my brother bought me the first four (all that were out at the time) in hardback and I felt obligated.

I agree with Dragon Lady. The first book is quick and not particularly deep, and I think the later ones get better.

Dear Newest Member Attolia,

I don't know a thing about you but I like you already just because of your name! I wish I'd been smart enough to name myself that.

I am in Phoenix. It is hotter than Utah. Except inside, where the air conditioning makes it frigid. I am also at an incredibly fancy hotel. We shall see how the conference goes. One man couldn't get into his room because the lock on his door apparently died. This is what happens when everyone uses key cards instead of keys. These are my random ramblings.

How... fun. I once sang in a thing for the Boys and Girls club in downtown Phoenix's Sheraton. THAT was a plush hotel.

Yeah, the shuttle stopped at the Sheraton before continuing on to the Hyatt. The Sheraton did look pretty posh. I don't know if I'm comfortable at this level of poshness.

Be careful. L.A. is a den of iniquity and heat.
