I remember looking in an old dictionary at my grandmother's house and reading the entry for corvette, which was a warship, not a sports car.

Another thing to remember to incorporate into authenticity...I'm definitely gonna keep that in mind!
The
Online Etymology Dictionary and Google's
Ngram Viewerare your friends! I've found some terms I can use, but with alterations to how we'd present them today (with a hyphen, say, or scare quotes.)
The Oxford Historical Thesaurus is also your friend (if you have OED online access), because they can give you period-accurate synonyms.

Playing Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds taught me it was a spaceship.

The second one initially, but then after a while I like to talk through it.
Unrelated note: the fan in my living room refuses to stop making noise! No matter which setting I put it on it squeaks, rattles, clinks... GAH!

Yesterday (or was it early this morning? I don't remember) I finished my latest duct tape project!

Hooray! What was the project?

I ran into Uffish at the grocery store and we talked while finishing our grocery shopping together and it was great.

It WAS great! We should hang out more. And on purpose.

And a really good pair of scissors, of course!

On purpose? Hmm. I was just planning on camping out indefinitely at the Provo Smith's until you showed up again, but your way is probably easier.

Nice. Art supplies make me happy (even though I'm not an artist).
You're a (theater) design major, right?

Yup! I'm really interested in costume design and makeup, though. And someday I'll learn how to do hair...

Normally I just let other people plan things. Today I took plans into my own hands. No one is responding to my emails. I want to do something petty and mean like email everyone and say "SEE YOU THERE, DRIVE YOURSELF, OR NOT." Or whatever. Ergh. Next time I'll go back to letting other people plan things.

I had my coworker plan something for us to do tonight--it ended up a complete mess...and we didn't really end up doing anything. This is why I plan things

Cause at least if it doesn't fall through, I can take responsibility for it.

ugh, that sounds like a pain. Try to get a friend to help you (assuming you are trying to get friends together)?

Heh, thanks. Well, I'm just annoyed at them. I hate not knowing if we are on the same page.
Tally M., that's probably a good strategy.

Dudes... friendzoned today. I asked her on a date on Tuesday (in person), and she said "Umm... Let me check my schedule and get back to you."
And then she didn't (she'd texted or facebooked me every day for like a week and a half since we met), and I didn't hear from her until this afternoon, when she texted me "What's going down tonight?"
Long story short, she eventually told me "dates ruin friendships." And "I'm hitting the mid-20's slump that girls hit where they don't want to date very much."
But she was totally leading me on, methinks. She asked me to go with her to a birthday party for someone that she didn't know, but I did. She didn't ask any of the other people in our circle of friends to go with us. She fell asleep on my shoulder while our circle was watching Voyage of the Dawn Treader (lame movie, by the way). She texted me every day for a week and a half.
And then she wouldn't go on a date with me. And told me "Dates ruin friendships."
Tell me if I'm overreacting.
(She did concede to get ice cream with me after tomorrow's session of stake conference. But only because she felt bad that she turned me down. My mom told me after "Forget her. It's not worth it. Ask (girl*) instead. Her butt is smaller.")
*who I've been on a few dates with previously, but is WAY short, and while we would have fun together, and get along well, we would probably offend too many people because we're both fairly blunt

I'd say she was definitely leading you on, but then for whatever reason changed her mind or freaked out or whatever. Bummer.
Also, I have definitely never heard of "the mid-20's slump that girls hit where they don't want to date very much."
