Re: Nine for Random Chatter, doomed to die
Ok, for a moment, Whistler, you had me thinking that Katya announced getting engaged and I had missed it, even though I read her post. And then I reread it and realized it was her cousin. I was about to get very angry at Katya for not even telling me she was dating someone!Whistler wrote:woooo congrats!Katya wrote: and just got engaged to a violin professor. Whistler, I will pass along your congrats to my cousin. (Who, for the record, didn't tell me she was dating anyone, so your outrage is not unwarranted, DL.)Dragon Lady wrote:Ok, for a moment, Whistler, you had me thinking that Katya announced getting engaged and I had missed it, even though I read her post. Oooooh! And you're not even my cousin! There should be some definite flogging with wet noodles from you to her.Katya wrote:Whistler, I will pass along your congrats to my cousin. (Who, for the record, didn't tell me she was dating anyone, so your outrage is not unwarranted, DL.)

Hey, you should all go vote for BYU in the Marketing Summit competition. It's really easy. Here's how you do it in 5 easy steps:
- 1. Go to http://www.marketingsummitlive.com
2. Look at the right side.
3. Click on the radio button next to Brigham Young University
4. Click submit
5. Tell all your friends to do it, too.
Re: Nine for Random Chatter, doomed to die
Well...nothing about my avatar has to do with C, for the first time in over a year. I'm kind of embarrassed about that. It's Rose Tyler. Doesn't she look happy and carefree in her ridiculously long multicolor scarf?
And...voted. :)

Carefree begins with a C.
Re: Nine for Random Chatter, doomed to die
So does colorful, which is the closest I was able to get when trying to justify my use of this picture. I've just always wanted to use this icon and it's never been the right time.Dragon Lady wrote:Carefree begins with a C.
Re: Nine for Random Chatter, doomed to die
I looked up the scarf/actress...I really have a thing for colors. Does one of you knitters on this forum want to make one of those scarves for me? http://www.jedigurl.com/crafts/rosescarf

Re: Nine for Random Chatter, doomed to die
Very, very tempting if I wasn't already so behind in my knitting projects. Regardless, I'll poke around Ravelry to see if they've got any more leads about the pattern and the yarn.krebscout wrote:Or trade?

Re: Nine for Random Chatter, doomed to die
If there were actually a pattern, and if I were a better knitter, I'd seriously consider it, too.
Re: Nine for Random Chatter, doomed to die
I found a pattern, here: http://zbyszkoknits.livejournal.com/924.html
You can't see the finished scarf all that well, but a bunch of people have knit it on Ravelry and it looks quite nice.
(Here's the Ravelry link for you, DL, but it won't work for other people unless you register: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library ... arf/people )

If all my yarn wasn't on the other side of the country at the moment, I would love to try. Along with that Yoshi scarf that I'm still planning to figure out someday...

Re: Nine for Random Chatter, doomed to die
K, krebscout, I'd be willing to try it if you wanted. I'm sure Katya could answer any questions I have, and I have made several scarves before in my day. We'd have to do some more figuring out about color and such, but if you want, I can sure give it a try. And we could go for a trade. Yellow owes you money anyway. I'm not sure how much he owes you, nor how much yarn will cost, but I'm sure we could work something out with that.
What think you?

south texas is the only place that will give you two snow days without any actual snow.

Dang it, where are all the crackpots?! Just read through all the comments on a story about the freak snowstorm here, and not one single one was about this disproving global warming. That makes me sad.

Heh. Isn't that the best? If it is even SLIGHTLY snowing, like the flakes are so tiny that they might really be dust, everybody gets off school and work. Kids run around outside like all their dreams are coming true... Hundreds of car accidents pop up all over the news... It's a very unique place.Imogen wrote:south texas is the only place that will give you two snow days without any actual snow.

Re: Nine for Random Chatter, doomed to die
I saw some pictures from my friends in Texas and it seems like there actually was some snow in a few places! Exciting.
I remember one time it was like 35 degrees and "supposed" to snow when I was in high school. We got the day off - so great! I miss that.
