Oh no! I love snowmobiling, but it is very dependant on the weather and type of snow. What happened?
It was a perfect day for it, and I had tons of fun at the time! (It was Monday, when it was really sunny and gorgeous.)

But the past two days I've been so sore. I can (kind of) handle my quads not working very well (I'm somewhat used to sore legs, though the last time my left leg hurt this bad it had like 20 stitches in it) but my right hand is practically useless. And that's a big problem, considering how much piano I need to play on a regular basis. I also need to practice harp, but just going through the motions is sickeningly painful.

So I'll go, if someone else drives. My wrists are too important to me to sacrifice for as long as I've already sacrificed them.

Also my brother is kind of tired of being my slave because I can't get up.

What happened to West Coast basetball?! Anyone remember the days of UCLA dominance? This season, the PAC-10 was not only the worst major conference, it was decidedly worse than mid-level conferences. Out of 32 top-8 seeds, only 5* are from schools West of the Rockies. Of 16 top-4 seeds (and therefore likely Sweet 16 teams)? Zero. Only 6** more teams in the top 32 are from West of the Mississippi. Seriously, what happened?

*UNLV - 6, New Mexico - 5, Gonzaga - 7, San Diego State - 6, St. Mary's - 7
**Iowa State - 8, Wichita State (eliminated) - 5, Baylor - 3, Kansas State - 8, Creighton - 8, Kansas - 2

So I asked 3d to walk me home from work tonight. Yes, he's still around but the drama thankfully isn't that bad anymore(if any of you remember that period of my life.). Anywho, it always amazes me how when he or a couple other friends are around when I'm stressed and feel like crying at the world I just can't. Not that I'm trying to hide it, Lord knows I've cried into his shoulder plenty, but that I don't feel the need to cry when we talk. Too bad all such friends live too far away to have that reminder more often.

If you take the slope (first derivative) of a position vs time graph you get velocity. Taking the slope of a velocity vs time graph gives acceleration. Which makes sense: slope is rise over run, if rise is position in meters, and run is seconds, your slope is in units of meters per second, or velocity (or, less technically, speed: change in direction). Doing it again also makes sense to get acceleration: velocity in m/s as rise divided by time in seconds gives m/s/s or m/s^2, your units of rate of change of speed: acceleration.

I just discovered that the third derivative, i.e. the rate of change of acceleration, is technically known as jerk (symbol j). And that in the aerospace industry, there are such things as jerkmeters.

It appears that some have offered to go further with the fourth derivative, or rate of change of jerk, as snap, with the fifth and sixth derivatives being crackle and pop, respectively.

Oh the joys of useless knowledge.

Yeah, I knew about jerk, but I just learned about snap the other day from a TED video. Crackle and pop are new to me though. ;D

My boyfriend has now met my family. It went really well, but I am utterly exhausted. If things don't work out with this guy, the next guy I date will probably not meet my family until we're practically engaged. Because I am exhausted.

If you're making loose rooibos tea, if you wrap it up in a coffee filter first, you won't end up with little spiky things getting out of the tea strainer and getting all over the place. This has changed my life.

I went to burger king with a friend tonight, to see another friend of ours at work. For some reason my card was declined multiple times, so my friend bought my food for me. Which was obnoxious because I have way more money than he does. Not that I'm rich, but a single girl working full time still living in student housing is a bit better off than the guy with allergies who goes on at least date a month and only works part time.

A lady in my ward gave birth in her car today. You can read about it on KSL.

So my business has grossed over $1200 in the past two weeks and it is basically the best thing ever.

The end.

I am trying to remember - does anyone else on here tutor high school kids? I seem to remember talking about that once on here, but I wasn't sure. I tutor a few kids in my ward in math, and a mom just called me in a real bind . . . but I have a two week old baby, so I can't really help. He needs help Tuesday night to study for his test Wednesday in Integrals (Calc AB), and this is his last chance to get his grade up before the term, so they are really stressed. Does anyone live close enough to Pleasant Grove, feel comfortable with Trig sub, and want to earn a few bucks? (I normally charge $15 an hour for people in my ward, but that's probably flexible.)

I'd do it, but don't have transport. And I just found out that I don't have one midterm this week. I have three.

I think Portia's a tutor in the SLC area.

Good work young (wo)man, you have earned your Board credentials. I would definitely be comfortable with the material, but PG might be out of my way. One of my good friends and coworkers actually did his student teaching there, so he could definitely give me a referral as well. PM me. :-)

Sounds like that Disney movie John Carter has bitten the big one. $200 million writedown from one source I've seen.

Poor Andrew Stanton. I guess former Pixar directors are only 1 for 2 in the last year.

I have a friend looking for work who is great at sewing and owns an industrial sewing machine and a quilting one. Only problem is, she is now a single mom and needs to take her kids to school and stuff. Any suggestions?

A lady in my last ward made and sold quilts and those blanket things that attach to baby carseat handles. She maybe had an etsy shop? I don't remember. I'd have her check into getting a booth at farmer's markets this summer. Perhaps she what it'd take to get a booth at the Quilted Bear.
