History. I've been a history buff all my life, but after studying it at an academic level I realized I'll never be a good historian. So I'm switching to something that, combined with minors in editing and history, might actually get me a job.

Huh. What kind of job are you aiming for? (And what are you doing for your foreign language requirement?)

Hopefully publishing or editing. I'd also consider doing a grad program in TESOL if that didn't work out. And I'm taking the "RM 16-credit exam" in Spanish.

Very interesting. Have you looked at ELang at all? (Not that I'm trying to dissuade you from doing Linguistics, but I've known a lot of ELang majors with similar career goals.)

Yes, but it would take me a lot, lot, lot, lot longer to graduate. Postponing graduation would require me to go into debt for an undergrad degree, which I'm not willing to do.

Ah, fair enough. (And I agree with you about the debt thing; I didn't have to go into debt for my B.A., and I'm tremendously grateful for that.)
Well, come find me if you ever want to talk about linguistics stuff. I love the field and the department, so I'm very happy to talk about it.

Has anyone else started playing Carmen Sandiego on Facebook?

I hadn't heard there was Carmen Sandiego on facebook. I was intrigued, but Marduk told me "No!"

Marduk, you are a spoil sport. It may not be exactly like the classic computer game or tv show, but it's still fun. Plus, you learn geography! That's an awesome thing!

Today I am being productive. So I'm going to stop reading this blasted, time-wasting, totally addictive forum! (At least until I'm done being productive today…;))

I still can't quite figure out what that is supposed to mean.

I'm glad to see that a despot who ruled with an iron fist over his people for over two decades was finally ousted. It is nice to see that the voice of the people can still be heard, and even someone as advanced in age and as rigid as he is/was can still resign from power. I look forward to the rebuilding efforts that can finally start to begin.
Let's hope Tyrone Corbin does a better job.

PS - I like Hypatia. And I'm going to miss her ridiculous amounts when she moves to Canada. She's been a perfect Dominion player. I shall miss that. [sigh] (SO GLAD she's not moving till Fall. And that's that.)

I just did some math and realized that the next wholesale order I will be doing will be nearly $2000.

I would just like to point out that today is Arizona's birthday. 99 years, people.

Are they planning a big celebration for next year?

Happy Valentines Day, everyone! Love, love, love. It's in the air. and not all romantic love, either.

I got kind of halfway dumped two days ago. But I'm having a good Valentine's Day anyway! All the secretaries here are in pink or red (except for the fashionable ones; they're in tan) and I'll go home and play all the love songs I own, and maybe write a letter. It'll be good. Love certainly is in the air.
