I don't know, but I hope so. It might even be worth driving home for... it's not every day that one's home turns 100.Katya wrote:Are they planning a big celebration for next year?Craig Jessop wrote:I would just like to point out that today is Arizona's birthday. 99 years, people.
It won't pass unnoticed. In fact, the celebration will be spread out over the next year and will include a lot of events, and a huge effort to raise money for education and "outreach" (whatever that means).Craig Jessop wrote:I don't know, but I hope so. Also, I bet New Mexico is gearing up as well, since I believe they joined up the same year as Arizona. The next statehood centennial won't hit until Alaska or Hawaii's. So... sometime in the late 50s?Jan Brewer wrote:I invite all Arizonans to participate in the state’s centennial countdown that begins today with our 99th Statehood Day. I encourage you to take a moment to learn about Arizona history, enjoy our beautiful parks, and explore the vast beauty of our rural and Native American communities.
Ha! Are you sure you could handle it?krebscout wrote:Code!
I send out more blank cards than I do preprinted carts (although not many of either, to tell the truth).krebscout wrote:I've always felt that a greeting card should function as the decorative vehicle on which a personal, hand-written sentiment is exchanged. I'm surprised when I'm given a card that is only signed, leaving Hallmark or whatever to write the feelings for you. How do other people do it?
By the way, I'm not referring to a specific Valentine's experience - just cards in general.
They both joined in 1959. Alaska is older, so they--alright, I'm just going to say it--we will be celebrating our centennial first.Unit of Energy wrote:They both joined in 1959. Did I know you were from Alaska? Have we had the argument yet about which is the easternmost U.S. state?Dead Cat wrote:Alaska is older, so they--alright, I'm just going to say it--we will be celebrating our centennial first.Unit of Energy wrote:They both joined in 1959. I've neglected to mention my home state on this forum (I finally decided that I've given too many hints to not just come out and say it--a stalker would have figured it out by now). So, I don't believe we've had the argument. I like to say it's the easternmost state--that way we can be most north, west, and east all at the same time. And if you cut us in half, each half could still eat Texas for breakfast. Mwahahaha.Katya wrote:Did I know you were from Alaska? I want to see an animation of that.Dead Cat wrote:And if you cut us in half, each half could still eat Texas for breakfast. Mwahahaha.
