just watched Moonrise Kingdom at the dollar theater here. Had the whole theater to myself! Also I love everything in that movie. Especially all the clothes and Edward Norton in knee socks.

Batter My Heart from Doctor Atomic. And once again I am left incredibly grateful for Dr. Howard and Music 202.

I think she means the Broadway Centre Cinemas in Salt Lake. (But I also did a double take.)

Katya is correct. (Duh.) Who could compose such a strange score? Who would you cast as Chihiro? Yubaba? I'm liking this idea.

One of the guys next door introduced me the other day to a band called Gregorian that does covers of popular pop and rock songs. Like them or not, you have to agree that they're very unique.

I think Julie Taymor could totally pull it off.

Just watched Amazing Grace and Objectified.

It was nice to see Benedict Cumberbatch in a role where he wasn't quite so serious. (Don't get me wrong, I love Sherlock, but Benedict Cumberbatch is so cute when he smiles!)

I liked Objectified, but not as much as Helvetica. (What I really want to do, though, is read a bunch of books by the folks interviewed in Objectified. So it's a good source for that sort of information.)

I also bought the soundtrack to Into the Woods, which I've wanted for a long time but kept not getting around to buying.

I also finished reading The Ghost Map a while back. Very good, but you can skip the epilogue and afterward. They feel tacked-on and they're not as well-researched as the rest of the book.

Yeah, not a fan of that one.

My mom tried to force me into loving Edward Scissorhands because (according to her) it is "one of the best movies out there". But I never have, and probably never will, love that movie. I'm not a huge Tim Burton fan in general (this dates back to the chronic nightmares that The Nightmare Before Christmas would induce when I was a child), though I recognize he is very talented at what he does.

However, I suppose there are exceptions to every rule since I absolutely loved Sweeny Todd.

I love Nightmare! Might be my favorite movie of all time. And in general I like Tim Burton. I just struggle when my media has anything other than a happy ending (plus several parts of the movie made me uncomfortable for various reasons).
