We start around 8. We were always allowed to go wake up mom and dad at 7:30... which means we were sitting outside of their room waiting by about 6 am. then at 7:30 my dad will go down and get out the video camera and put on christmas music and such, then we come down one by one according to age (I'm last because I am the oldest).

How do you guys unwrap presents? We do them one at a time, youngest to oldest.

Pretty much the same. (Don't know if it always goes youngest to oldest, but generally it does.)

It goes one at a time, in whatever order my parents pick, basically "Who's gone the longest time without a present?"

Me too, one at a time, and basically the person who hadn't opened in the longest. Except that after a half hour of opening presents we all get bored, so then it's a free for all. And my parents say we can't wake them up until 7 this year. But we'll still be up around 2 or 3 opening our stockings and watching movies. and think we're being quiet, but my parents will still hear us.

We weren't allowed downstairs until 7, so my brother and I would stretch the cord of his clock out as far as it would go into the hallway, and stand at the top of the stairs starting at about 5:30 or 6. Then we would run down the stairs the instant it said 7, and my dad would stop us halfway down and tell us the camcorder wasn't ready yet, and send us back up to sit grumpily on the steps until he said it was okay.

As for opening, we ran down and opened Santa gifts in a free for all, then had breakfast and enjoyed those for a bit before all sitting down and taking turns opening gifts from each other and aunts, grandparents, etc. Youngest to oldest, as I recall, though I could be wrong. And every year my mom wrote down what every person got, which is actually a hilarious journal now. We can look back and see what we got for Christmas as a 5 year old, and it settled some disputes on who actually owned which board game when we went to move out.

Hmm. If the kids are asleep, we play every game that way. Board game, video game, whatever. Wasn't planning on telling my kids that when they are older though. I agree, TMI. Still loads of fun for married couples. (I figured someone ought to stick up for your parents here.)

So let me get this straight. I leave for a day and the conversation goes downhill. Wow you guys. Nothing all week and now this. Maybe I should no longer grace you all with my presence

Speaking of presents, what did you all get. I got a couple games and the movie of Fiddler on the Roof. Oh, and my little brother drew me a picture of a pink flamingo. I was a little dissapointed though, he made every one else cookies.

I got... a book. From m&m. And a spiral pictures book. And... a cat calendar... OH! And this flippin' HUGE book (like three feet tall) with all these picture of cats in it. And some cereal.

My brother got Rock Band. We've played it for six or seven hours so far. At least.

I bought Fiddler on the Roof a few weeks ago...didn't remember it being so insanely long, but enjoyed it nonetheless. Good choice, good choice.

My family and I went in three book stores yesterday. And I got a book in all two of them. The majority of my family got something in all 3.
