Yeah, our last apartment was a tri-plex off to the side of the owner's house that I think used to be their garage. Teeny tiny. We submitted our offer today, but found out there are several other offers being made, so there's a good chance we won't get the house, and I'm choosing to be preemptively heartbroken about it. We find out Sunday for sure. Sifting through the runner-up houses looking for another option is just really depressing, because they're all pretty blah-looking.

I met my first real-live socialist outside a 19th/20th century novel. I think he's one of the few people I know who is arguably better-read than I am. (He's used his 10 years on me well.) And he actually took my book recs seriously, and was as well-informed on issues like feminism and (obviously) economic inequality as anyone I've talked to. But he wasn't a bore or anything. He also happened to be quite good-looking. ... I'm really glad I'm out of Provo. Salt Lake attracts interesting types.

My junior high school social studies teacher was a registered member of the Communist Party of Canada. It was awesome.

I know nobody thinks this is as exciting as I do, but WE GOT THE HOUSE. There's still a lot of stuff to finalize, and we have to get it inspected and appraised, but we're officially in the process of buying our first home. If any of you ever find yourselves on the Kentucky/Middle Tennessee border for some reason you can come and see us, because I am in escrow! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYK36PCugJE)

Congrats!
The Epistler was quite honestly knocked on her ethereal behind by the sheer logic of this.

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
I'm trying to find a video that I saw on youtube a few years ago. It was black and white and from an era of psychological research without ethics boards. It compared two babies in what they could do physically. One baby was thoroughly exercised every day, and the other was left on its back with little stimulation. After a year, the first baby could roller skate, climb up a large incline, and I think jump? The other baby couldn't. I remember it being a pretty interesting video, but now I can't find it.

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
We scheduled the ward Halloween party and the Primary program two days apart, which was madness, but they're both over, which means I am done having to plan anything until Easter. Hooray!
Also, seven young men signed up to help me run games, but only two showed up, which meant I spent all night helping kids play skeeball* and I didn't get to eat anything, which sucked because there was a chili cook-off. The same thing happened at the Easter party, so I think I might just issue a blanket ban on the YM and say sorry, I don't want your "help" ever again.
*I made a scaled-down skeeball game out of cardboard and it is awesome.

yes, if I were doing a party I'd definitely want you in charge GA! that sucks about not getting food though. If it were easier to do I would send you some leftover chili we made from our chili cookoff.

I had an awful day playing the organ today so I just decided to quit. I feel... pretty good about this decision, actually.

Maybe just take a break for an indefinite period of time, Whistler, and see what you think later...
If I just received a text from someone I've dated a few times recently and (before discussing something normal to talk about) she starts off with "hey buddy," is there any possibility that I have NOT just been friendzoned? Methinks not, but please discuss.

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
I did the take-a-break thing a few months ago, and I was like "I can do this!" And I found out that I can (kind of), and I don't want to.
also... sorry, buddy
