Of course in this country we're innocent until proven guilty, but
Jodi Arias sounds like a crazy scary ex-girlfriend who probably did it. Now she's saying self defense, (shot, stabbed 27 times, and slit ear to ear?!) after having changed her story twice before, from "I wasn't there" to "There was a home invasion and I fled."
Alexander was a Mormon, and Arias was so taken with him, she was baptized into the LDS church.

Talk about an optimistic nerd. Some guy wants to actually make a life-sized starship Enterprise in space (

43 pictures of people you probably wouldn't want to be. I laughed the most at #20. But they're all pretty weird

My favorite part is how it says "43 people" in the title, "45-people" in the URL, and there's 42 pictures. Distant second to the kid with the Xbox.

They really "kinected" after the prom. I don't know which would be more terrifying in the moment-planking atop that McDonald's sign so high in the air or planking on the sleeping tiger. Not that I'd ever actually do either.

Interesting. Wendy's is now #2 in market share, having surpassed Burger King. (
source) I'm not a big burger eater; maybe three or four times in the past year I've had one. But I find that when I think about it, I have a preconceived notion that the order is 1)McDonald's, 2)Burger King, 3)Other. Also, I was only vaguely aware of Wendy's (formerly) difference of having square patties.

Watching Disney's Pocahontas on Netflix while doing some work - Pocahontas just listened with the wind or something and now she knows English! I can't help but admit I still like this movie, even though it's... you know... imperfect in many ways.
edit: That John Smith is such a jerk!!! But he'll learn. Sort of. Oh man.

I'm really enjoying Ken Jennings' "Because I Said So!" right now. He looks into the research on a bunch of folk wisdom and debunks a lot of it. (apparently I've been led to believe a whole lot of things that aren't actually true, like "don't run with scissors") There's even a little truth meter at the end of each topic, in case you don't feel like reading the whole thing.

I didn't realize he had a new book out. Fun!

I just placed my hold. Thanks for the tip!

Now that Disney owns the Star Wars franchise, a live-action TV series might be coming to ABC.

I've heard rumors of that since 2006 or 2007. Hopefully it'll finally happen, and happen well.

This ticks me off. Not sure where I came across this at like 5 am last night.
(And by "this" I mean "the events described in the article", not "this article")

Also, you should all go upvote my
corrected 9gag post I made because it showed up as I was reading the article and I was ticked off.

The comment on that is probably meant to be lighthearted, but it's making me feel ill. For one thing, rape, by it's nature, cannot be asked for, because then it would consensual, and thus not rape. The whole point of the image is that a hemline, no matter where it is, is not consent. If the girl (or guy) doesn't say they consent, nothing else matters.

I love pleasant surprises. I bought the Garden State physical CD from Amazon for myself, and the Les Mis soundtrack for my grandma (who is, like, my best friend), and they magically showed up as being available for download to my Amazon MP3 player. The Shins and Iron & Wine? Yes, please.
