Bad idea: opening a bag of white cheddar popcorn at lunch time before I've eaten lunch.

Bad idea? Sounds like a great idea to me! Every once in a while, I make "baseball lunches" for myself, consisting of hot dogs and popcorn. They're not exactly healthy, but they're fun!

Well, it's a bad idea because I've already eaten half the bag and they were supposed to be for our car trip tomorrow! I may have to stop at the store again. Man, I love these things.

Mmm...I'm a total sucker for popcorn. But I felt guilty about buying a bunch of junk food for our trip to Moab, so I got other stuff like grapes, vanilla wafers, and string cheese.
(I did pick up a Baby Ruth for my husband and a bag of sour Gummie Savers for me. Sour Gummie Savers = drugs. Sweet, delicious drugs.)

Vanilla wafers? Did you just really say that high fructose corn syrup is healthier than popcorn?

hahaha

I actually did pretty well buying snacks for my trip to Moab. Yes, there was a bag of candy and two packages of chocolate, but I had two kinds of crackers, apples, carrots, cheese, and other good stuff.

I'd also like to point out that popcorn isn't necessarily healthy. If it has a delicious coating, it's probably bad for you.

I couldn't. I had glass in my pants. I was on the phone with my dad when it happened and he was so worried. Poor dad. And my poor car!

Speaking of cars, I can't drive mine anymore because the dealer is taking FOREVER with our plates.

Trying to get me to visit with his institute teacher. He's a "history guy" like me. That's great, but he told my roommate things that any responsible scholar would reject out of hand ("President Kimball was fine with the Fourteen Points." Excuse me? Have you even read that part of his biography? The author, President Kimball's son, makes it very clear that the OPPOSITE is true! And documents it!). The teacher also touts
A History of Joseph Smith By His Mother as the best biography out there on the Prophet; every scholar -- even faithful ones -- with any training in history take that book with a grain of salt because of its obvious bias. Yet this guy says to ignore other biographies in favor of this one. Roommate also said that the institute teacher agreed to meet, but "not to be combative or butt heads." This tells me I'd be in for a lecture from the "I'm a teacher and you're a pupil, bask in my wisdom" perspective as opposed to an honest discussion of actual issues.
Add to that the e-mail I just got from my bishop telling me how we must "'sustain' our brethren, including the local leaders and support them in their work and ministry. If we cannot do this, we cannot be worthy candidates for the sacred work of redeeming the dead in our holy temples." Um, I sustain the Brethren and local leaders, sometimes I just don't agree with them. I responded with a scripturally based explanation of my position, and I got a "thank you for your thoughts" in reply. Last Sunday -- at Roommate's suggestion -- I went and talked to the bishop about my concerns and he said that he appreciated my thoughts and said he wished more members would think things through like I do. Now I get passive aggressive e-mails, which also greatly toned down what he told me on Sunday.
sigh...

What a pain. I'm sorry you're having to deal with all of this.

Just out of curiosity (I'm not a "history guy"), what are the Fourteen Points? The only thing I can think of is the Fourteen Fundamentals of following the prophet.

That's what the Fourteen Points are.

What was President Kimball's issue with them?
