Got dumped for his job 2,000 miles away, but looks like I have a decent shot at one 1,000 miles away. We were only dating for 2 to 8 days, depending how you count, but I'm still crushed. He was perfect. He IS perfect.

I blame Phelps. There's a finite amount of happiness in this universe, and he quadrennially sucks mine away.

Wow, I wish I had that where I live (plus the time). I actually once worked at a place that had a welding station, though I was never a welder, and one time the welders let me try to drag a bead on a piece of steel. Not welding two pieces together, just making a looped line kind of like a cake decorator would do. It was hard because you have to hold the stick at the right angle, you have to keep it just the right distance from the work (not too close or it will get stuck; not too far or the spark will disappear), you have to move forward at the right pace (again, not too slow or too fast) while making the little loop motions, and all the while your stick is getting eaten away, so you have to be constantly lowering it, while still maintaining the right angle and distance. And all you can see through your mask is a flickering white dot. You can't see the orientation of the stick in relation to the metal, or where the puddle is on the metal, so you better have an idea from your memory where your end point is. It's a lot of things to coordinate perfectly at once.

I feel your pain. Last year I got dumped by a guy I wasn't even in a relationship with yet ... It sucks, but hang in there.

Our choir teacher. Some rich guy donated a harpsichord to our high school when I was a student there.

That's really cool. I played a harpsichord once, but that's about it.

Fact: Sir Nils Olav is the Colonel-in-Chief of the Norweigan Royal Guard and was knighted in August 2008, approved by King Harald V. He also happens to be a penguin.
