If he's as good as Amy, I think we're in for a treat. (Speaking of which, I'm not a big fan of Clara. I hope she comes into her own, this season.)

Oh, I'm very pleased. I've sort of been hoping for a bit older of a Doctor some time.

Editing has been disabled on Peter Capaldi's Wikipedia page due to "a large volume of editing". I think he'll be an excellent Doctor, but I've seen nothing of his, so I'm running on intuition and looks.

I'm hoping so as well. She has the potential to be good.

"The Black Count." I love it!
it's about Alex Dumas, the father of the novelist: the son of a white French aristocrat and a black slave born in what is now Haiti. He was a General in Revolutionary France. The book is incredibly stirring. His wife is awesome, too.
(Although the fact that racism persists in America today angers me, when it's so clear that character, bravery, and ability know no color lines.)

Nature sounds. I did a mix of forest ambient, frogs, owls, and rain on a roof. It is reeeally neat!

This song has been stuck in my head for days.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0pMgzYUEwA I don't care much for the video, though.

I finished Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys, which is unrelated to that other book about shades of gray. It's about people from the Baltic who were deported to Siberian work camps during WWII/Stalin. Really interestingly sad.

Marduk found a book of poetry by Wislawa Szymborska on clearance at the BYU Bookstore. I bought it mostly because it was super cheap, but now that I'm reading the poems I'm so glad I did. She takes ideas we're familiar with (for example, Lot's wife), looks at them from a different angle, and then describes that angle in some of the most beautiful language and imagery I've ever seen. It's fantastic.

You bought it because it was cheap? I thought you bought it because I wanted it...

This was an interesting read--albeit a very sad read. I didn't realize there were Mennonites in South America
