Making Beds

Turns out that making the bed
breeds dust mites. So I only make the bed when I want to surprise my wife or when we have company coming over and we suspect they'll want to see the bedroom (why, I honestly don't know), or when we've just washed the bedclothes.

I have a very difficult time making my bed. It pretty much never happens. But I have so many blankets on it that it more or less holds its shape and I can go to bed with a minimum of rearranging.

I never ever make my bed either. My roommates weren't huge fans of that. My dad really dislikes coming to my room now because of how slovenly it looks. But I've just never seen the point. I make it when we have company coming that will use it (usually we'll wash the sheets too), or when I'm really actually making my room clean and not just haphazardly straightening.
And that's like never.

I never make my bed at home. Ever. My husband believes it is a waste of time, since you are just going to mess it up again, and no one ever sees our bedroom. However, our cabin is much smaller and the bedroom is just off of the kitchen, so I keep that place immaculate. I always make the bed there. Does that make me 50/50 overall?

Not only that, but getting back into bed is so much easier when it's turned back from when you got out.

I'll be the first to admit it. I make my bed. Well… I'm trying to be better about making my bed anyway. I probably get it at least 4-5 times every week. And probably mostly because I am trying really hard to be a cleaner housewife and making my bed is one of those really simple things I can do that make me feel like my house is clean.

I sleep on top of my made bed underneath my other blanket. This way I don't have to bother with it in the morning, but my room always has a semblance of neatness about it. If you ignore the closet area.

I could never do that. I sleep under a sheet, two afghans, a (Disney!) throw, a fur cloak, and a sleeping bag, and most nights I'm still cold!

I do the same thing, Unit of Energy! For some reason I really hate the look of an unmade bed. A pile of clothes is just fine, papers scattered randomly all over my living room don't bother me, but I can't stand looking at sheets without a blanket over them.

My wife is troubled by walking into a bedroom in the house and seeing the bed not made. Seeing the bed made up neatly brings a feeling of peace and calmness to her mind. Over the years I've come to feel the same way. The solution in our family to the question of who makes up the bed is simply this, whoever gets out of bed the last has to make the bed. It is a small incentive to not lingering longer than needful in bed.
