Whatever else happens, I hope teleportation will happen very soon.

All I know is, according to Back to the Future, the world has five years to supply me with a flying car. That runs on garbage.
Ready, set, GO.

Flying car? Hoverboard is all I have to say.
As for real technological advancements over the next 50 years, I am going to assume that we will continue to see huge strides in telecommunication and hand held tech. Fifty years ago now people didn't call long-distance regularly, much less have a cell phone in their pocket. I can see international rates dropping even lower than they are now and for video phones to become a norm.
We have already begun to see a revolution in how media is managed. I could see traditional television stations being eliminated totally and almost all content being provided via time-release methods. (Think of DVRing any and everything.)
Also, hopefully nano-tech will provide a few breakthroughs in disease prevention and control.

I think it's pretty obvious what will be the most important advancement. The Iron Man suit. They're already working on it people. Think of the awesome hand to hand battles with bears!

I think that before we can get teleportation we'll get isoportation.
In related news, we'll develop ways other than eating to provide fuel for the human body.

Already done, friend! It's called total parenteral nutrition. It's not more popular because it's more expensive than food and it requires the long-term use of an IV. And because people like eating.

I was thinking more along the lines of being able to plug in to an outlet or human photosynthesis or something else entirely. I don't care how much people like eating, if you can make it so that we don't need to use so much land for food crops, that will definitely be an improvement in technology.
